I am new to the 650 so please forgive me. I bought a 650 for 9mm. I also ordered .223 dies, case sorter(for pistol and small rifle), a quick change kit(has the powder measurer and die holder) . First off I see a 9mm setup doesn't come with dies. No biggie I had some. But what I need to know is what I need to reload .223. The .223 cases fit in the 9mm shell plate. So do I need a complete caliber conversion for .223 or can I get the other things besides the shell plate?

Here's an interactive chart which let's Dillon 650 owners look up what parts will work for other cartridges.

Has a ton of Dillon reloader topics.
If you call Dillon directly, they will usually recommend you buy all new conversion parts, but some of the parts you already own, or for other calibers; as you said can be used for other cartridges.

Thanks that worked great! All ordered and I added the 308/3006 stuff also.

Unlike a 550, with a 650, you will need the conversion kit for the casefeeder parts. That is, if you have the casefeeder. If you don't, I'd wonder why you had a 650 (unless you really like auto indexing that much). I was reluctant to drop the $$$, but I ended up buying conversion kits for all of the calibers that I load, even though some share shellplates.

From personal experience, the .223 and 9mm shell holders are different pieces; and for the best functioning you will want to use the appropriate shell holder.
