what is the Best way to mount a carrying case for a target/sniper rifle on an ATV / 4wheeler???? I have a new polaris sportsman 800. I shoot sniper matches 4 miles from my house at Thunder Valley. Does anyone Know a good way to safely carry my rifle with Bi-pod big scope and accessories for matches on my 4 wheeler? what kinda case

Most scabbards (thinking hard sided scabbards) are too small to fit a rifle much larger than the run 'o' the mill pencil barreled hunting rifle. You MAY be able to fit in one of the new Kolpins but you are going to have to take the bipod off, if you scope is too big, forget it. You can always put it in your hard case & strap the hard case to the front rack, easy fix.

Can the rifle be visable to the public or not?

only a custom, self-builded, padded and rigid box, bolted in some way to the frame_ nothing less, in my opinion_

Eberlestock has some scabbards that I think some one could attach to a rack or a custom mount of some kind.

thanks I could get a hard case and mount it in the back or front.. I would not worry about people seeing it. Has anyone did this? I could put a sling on it also

Yeah, a guy that went elk hunting with us a couple times strapped his hard case down, it worked just fine for our 4-6 mile ride into base camp.

I bungied the hell out of my hard case to the back rack, like thru the handle and across in such a way I knew it wasn't going anywhere. I drive a 4wheeler like a madman or so I'm told and still the best way to carry my bolt gun. Another good part is that when you get to where your going you have a nice steady flat surface to sit your stuff on like a mobile bench. Oh and I use a pelican storm for those adventures, don't think I would trust much less the way get from A to B on a wheeler.

Side note: if you do choose that route remember that there will be over a foot of gun case hanging off either side so weaving thru trees/cars/gates/cows/people/ anything else deserves extra precaution....

One last thought, how about a pull behind trailer like they use with lawn mowers etc just hook it up to the back put a cooler, guns, chairs, whatever you might need then when you get there you could unhook and have the wheeler free to run around.

I have a little cheapo garden trailer that I have used a few times but unless you are staying on pretty smooth ground it doesn't work too good. If you consider a trailer I would get one that has good ground clearance and some sort of suspension to help with rougher ground.

I usually use a soft drag bag type case and use bungee cords to hold it on the rear rack. I strap a couple range bags on the front rack. Like Crapshot said, be careful since it will stick out on each side. If you are going to have to go through a lot of water a hard case may be better to keep things dry.

I have the same set Trapshooter has on one and they do ok. I often just bungee the soft case down to the rear rack and drive on.
