I'm thinking of getting my rem 700 rifle action with melonite to make it smoother if it can since the bolt isn't that smooth I'd like to make it smoother. but if its too expensive its not worth it.

was it worth it? Is it worth coating my action?
What about the action is not smooth? Is it factory? Remingtons have generous bolt /race way clearance and should run easy. Maybe not cat shit on a linoleum floor slick tho
I just would like to get it as smooth as possible, just because I like smoother bolts.
Most places charge a base fee to do it, and you can lump XX # of parts in. Similar to a batch price.

already have done that probably 500 times at least cycling it back and forth and closing it
I'm not a Remington guy, and I did a Savage and an FN...so my experience may not apply. But...
My Savage had ~6000 rounds through, and probably another 6k dry fire cycles. It felt fine.
It came back from melonite *much* smoother than it had been before.
The FN felt about the same as before, though I only had ~100 rounds through it prior.
I didn't do it for smoothness reasons. I like the look and corrosion resistance.
My opinion is to hold off until the action in nicely worn in. Also consider ion bond.
Did they Melonite the inside of your barrels as well?
