Hi guys
I recently purchased a Winchester Model 70 Alaskan in .375 H&H Magnum (FN now makes them, good reports), first time using this caliber.
As I intend to reload, I was checking things out on different sites and noticed on several forums that large rifle primers and large rifle magnum primers were used for this caliber.
Shooters/Hunters in cold climates always recommended large rifle magnum primers; on the other hand, several shooters/hunters in hot climates were using large rifle primers.
I see their way of reasoning but would like to know what more knowledgeable shooters/hunters think about this.
Any thoughts?

If some of you have this rifle in this caliber, could you let me know what factory ammo produced the best accuracy in your rifle, at whatever distances; it would give me a starting point. Also if you have a pet load and don't mind sharing; I'll give it a shot ;)

Greatly appreciate your comments.

Good shooting.

For primers there is no wrong answer, just use same primer all the time. For powders RL-15 and Varget are very popular followed by WIN-760. I see you are in NV and would recommend trying Varget, won't get quite same speed as RL-15 but will handle heat a little better. Shoot this caliber a bit and have used it over the pond so know it fairly well.

Love my 2 375's with Federal TSX 300 grains, the Capeshok versions, not the Fusion ammo. Both bona fide sub 1 MOA with that factory ammo, critters Do Not Like, tips them over right there, on the spot.

Hi SaskShooter
After few weeks of homework, talking to many shooters/hunters, on several forums, all using extensively the .375 H&H, from Africa to Alaska (I like the sound of that); it seems that many are in agreement with you. These 3 powders and the 210, or 215, will work no matter what. I will run tests on my own, as I have 210, 215, Varget and W760; the only one MIA is the RL 15 (back order).
I have no experience with W760, as due to my location, I have always used Varget for my reloads in .308 and 7.62x54r but will work with it. I would like to save the Varget for my precision rifles and keep the W760 for the .375; I guess I will find out soon how it compares in high temps,
I always enjoy running these kind of test anyway ;)
Thanks for your help, have fun and good shooting.

Hi MikeeBooshay
I'll make sure I try these in my M70; I am good friend with sub-MOA ;)
Thanks and good shooting.
