I recently put an siii 8-32x56 on a savage 10 with a 20 moa egw rail and low tps rings. With the included objective cover, there is about 3/32" of gap. Hope this gives you some perspective. Ring height will depend on your rifle and base. I think the 10-50x 60 has a two piece tube, while the others are one. So far I am impressed with mine, but have only made one trip to the range and it was overcast. It looked pretty good even on 32x. I have the moa2 reticle and like it so far. I think the glass is comparable to my zeiss conquests and leupold vx3. The turret adjustments are firm and precise. Very nice scope for the $. Hope this helps.

I've owned 2 of the 8-32's and a 10-50 all with the moa reticle. I'm a big fan of high magnification but I found the 10-50 was just to big. If your gonna shoot bench or f-class with it I'm sure it would be fine but for everything else I wouldn't go bigger than the 8-32. My 10-50 has been replaced with a NF 5.5-22 and I don't miss it a bit. Just my .02

Unless you absolutely need the extra 18x I would consider the 8-32x56mm. It's an excellent scope but quite large and heavy as it is. I have considered purchasing the 10-50 afterwards, but not from feeling lack of power, more just an addition. The picture does start to fade after the mid 20x's but its still very usable. The 10-50 has more lenses and won't produce the same picture as its smaller brother on similar powers. I still have interest in it but would not give up my 8-32x.

As said above, if it serves only one job and you want the extra mag it is well regarded and worth the purchase in my eyes.

I had a thread going a short while back anout it with plenty of info.
Good luck-

i've been using the 10x50x60 lrirmoa-2 scope for 1 1/2 years now and wouldnt give it up for anything i've used it from 300 to 1000 yrds with no problems i rarely take it down below 35 power for the most part it stays on 50. the only drawback i have seen is the side focus is touchy ;it has never lost zero i practice @ 300 (the farthest i can shoot at our club )and use shooter ballistic program and its always been spot on at other distances. i need to save up and replace my other scopes with one of these one thing i like about the IR part is at our club and a few others they use shoot and sees for our spotters them shoot for record on the upper target so i leave it black on the ornage center then turn it on (red) for the f class center to give it contrast.

I have a few of the 10-50x60's on various rifles. As mentioned above, I have them in both high and extra high Burris Signature Zee rings (base & barrel diameter dependent). At 8am before the heat/mirage shows up, a 600 or 1000 yard target is a beautiful sight. If my relay is later in the day, I'm usually at 30-35x (sometimes 40x, can't do that with an 8-32x). While I would pick the 10-50x everytime, probably 75% of the time, I wouldn't feel all that bad with an 8-32x56.

Optically, I placed one right next to a Nightforce 12-42x NXS I had and couldn't tell a discernible difference when set at equal powers (any difference was likely in my head, I sold the NF & bought 2 more Sightrons). I don't get to go shooting nearly as often as I'd like, so all of my Sightrons still have a somewhat stiff side focus. I'm hoping they will loosen up with some use. Mine are all first gen. by the way, don't know if they've gotten any smoother in the last couple years. Elevation and windage "clicks" are positive and tracking is right on. They don't/didn't come with sunshades. I went on fleabay and bought five camera sunshades for $7.95/ea (I think Sightron wants $50) for my scopes - problem solved.

As other's have mentioned, the side focus is sensitive. What I've noticed with mine is, say you're shooting at a 1000 yard target, from 980 - 1010 yards will be in focus (#'s pulled from rearend for example purposes only). Anything before or beyond isn't. I've been told the lower powered Sightrons aren't as sensitive. Doesn't seem like my Nightforce BR's are either. I shoot benchrest so the targets are fixed and this isn't an issue for me, I'm not sure how good it would be if you were glassing around for varmints with it...just thought I'd point it out. I'd really like to try out a newer one to see if any of the above has improved. Still, for $850 (BR model) it's really the best value out there for a high powered scope (my 0.02 of course).

What do they mean moa-2

Have you lost the black dot/cross hair on the black bull
Thanks

I've got two of them and couldn't be more satisfied. I have them on both of my FTR rigs and shoot out to 1,000 with no problems. I prefer the fine cross hair the dot covers up too much for me. I've looked thru Nightforce scopes and honestly can't see a difference.

BobD Were can I find your thread?

Here's one about the SIII 8-32x56mm with LRMOA-2 reticle (it is a thin MOA hash type reticle) there are reticle (including subtension sheet) and through scope pics in thread.

Here's one about the new lineup for 2013, including 10-50 models with new reticles et.

lastly, here's one about Sightron's new custom shop, that is now open (who will by the way loosen a stiff parallax if needed... However, they do make it stiff on for purposes of durability. It will get easier with time but if it starts looser, it will spin with less than desirable resistance later on.

Again, no ill remarks intended toward the 10-50, it is their flagship/ best selling scope. I just feel that it's more special purpose and certainly a monster of a scope. It's was on my list to buy for a while. I've been eyeing the new 15-55 NF competition recently which reported has phenomenal glass; might be more appreciated at the 35+ mag range

Hope this helps
