After some chatter on the hide wondering if Robert is alive, talking, and actually building rifles I figured I needed to check in on him. So I made the trip to Georgia yesterday to see the old boy. Yep he is alive and well. So you guys can quit loosing sleep thinking about him at night and let your mind wonder to someone that is a little prettier and has a little more hair.

I actually got to bring a rifle home with me too. (never mind the magic marker in the cheekpeice....Its guarenteed not to affect the accuracy and if I would have made him remove it well it would have slowed him down. Your welcome guys!!!

Here is just some quick teaser pics. I did shoot 5 different loads down the gun I had loaded before getting the rifle. I had no idea the chamber length so I ended up jumping the 140 Berger Hybrids .067 and they shot good by most smiths standards but not Roberts. THe gun averaged .277 for 5 groups with crazy mirage and some lack luster handloads. Ill work on the loads in the next couple of weeks and Im sure it will be a one hole gun as all the rest of Roberts guns I have shot are. Oh the rifle is a 6.5X47. Oh and to all the guys who shoot with me....No this is not the same rifle I have been shooting for just over a year. I wanted two rifles and the only way to pull the wool over the wifes eyes were to use exactly the same parts, colors, everything. So now I have twins!!

A HUGE THANK YOU Robert for building me this rifle. I wont complain about the long wait. But if it aint a one hole gun Im sending it back!!!! All joke aside. Robert is a very good friend of mine. I respect him more than he knows. He is the most humble person I have ever met. (Some times to humble if you ask me) But with Robert you get more than a stupid accurate rifle. You get to spend time with a truely great person if you make the trip to his shop. There are very few smiths that build rifles that are consitently as accurate as the ones that leave his shop. It should be on every serious shooters bucket list to own one of his rifles.

Robert's one of the best riflesmiths I've ever met. His rifle just flat out shoot. His guns are always worth the wait.

Well I loaded up some varget instead of the 4350 I tried on the first go around. Varget is the magic powder for this rifle.
I shot 37.0-38.2 grain in .2 grain increments. Out of the seven groups 5 of them will measure in the .1s or less. Can't wait to get home and measure them up.

Robert you knocked it out the park on this.

This rifle is worthy of a name for sure. Pumba maybe? Hence the warthog on Lion King

I have named very few rifles. For some reason they have all three came from the state of Georgia.

I'm gonna file that one away in the "for future use" file.

Beautiful rifle!

Nice stick - I'm absolutely sure it will be a hammer. Looking forward to seeing more photos and some 1-hole groups.

That is great! I'll have to remember that one in the future...

Congrats on the new rifle. Now that you have some really nice groups......................... well the wait doesn't seem too bad now does it? Like many of Robert's rifles I bet it will shoot just about anything you throw at it. Enjoy your new rifle.

Robert does build a good rifle! Don't know how he finds the time to do it between all the golfing and needle point.

Well I got to take my new rifle to K&M Precision Rifle Training to shoot one of their Panhandle Shooters Challenges. I was lucky enough to take 1st Place with the 6.5X47. Mark Rossett came in 2nd Place shooting his Gradous built 6XC.

A HUGE THANK YOU ROBERT for building such fine rifles!!!

ALso a BIG thanks goes out to the K&M crew for a wonderful match. Anyone who has not traveled to K&M are missing out. It has been named the Disney World of shooting facilitys by several shooters......I agree!!

My second Robert rifle will be posted in the next few days. The rifle was built with an unlimited budget. I am positive it will be the best of the best in my rifle collection. I am out of the country for a year so I have asked Robert to post pictures of it. It will be the first time I have seen it. Can not waite and I hope others will enjoy the pictures of both the rifle and the targets. Someday I hope I will be able to be home long enough to shoot my first Robert rifle and now this one
