Rifle Scopes Help with Scope for my Kidd 10/22 Build

I've decided to take the jump and build a 10/22. I've ordered a Tactical Solutions Vantage Stock, Slate Pillar Bedding Pillar Beded. I have pretty much styled on Kidd parts, Supergrade Receiver, 10 MOA Base, Kidd 2 Stage Trigger 8oz/8oz red straight trigger blade, 16.5" Fluted .920 Polished Barrel threaded. I'll be using my SS Silencerco Sparrow on the gun I would assume at all times.
I'd like some help choosing a scope for this gun, most all my shooting will be on my own property and my current set-up is 50-125 yards, but I can go out further, up to 250 but It entails shooting uphill around 15-18 degrees so most will be done at the 50 & 100-120 range. I have a 2-7 Nikon P-22 on my dedicated Spikes/CMMG AR 15/22 and a 2-7 Nikon Monarch on my Marlin Golden 39A, both which I've been pretty happy with. I'm thinking I want to go with more power and possible something better than Nikon for this gun. I'm open to spending a few bucks to get something good lets say up to around $600? I'm open here so suggest away, but I really can't see spending too much more unless of course there is some real justification for it. I shoot for fun and don't compete if that info helps at all. Thanks in advance for any suggestions and or advice you'd be willing to throw my way. The stock is on the way, I chose this one because it's ambi and I'm a lefty and my wife is not. I plan to order the rest of the Kidd parts this weekend unless somebody sees a glaring mistake in my choices. I think if you could swing $699, the SWFA 3-15x42 would be perfect. I like the fact that the mil quad reticle had 10 mils of holdover, that coupled with tons of adjustment range; it really lets you stretch the legs of the little 22. It also has adjustable parallax and will focus clear down to 6m. I generally like FFP scopes, and IMO, it is the most versatile scope of its kind out there for the money.
If you ever decide to sell it down the road, they hold their value really well too, compared to some cheaper options like a Muller or Falcon.
The Weaver tactical 3-15x50 is a similar setup to the SS, about the same price and a great option too.

Thanks Crosshair, will definitely check it out. I've heard good things on here about SWFA. I'm open to spending what I need to make this thing a great shooter, I just don't wanna throw $1000 worth of glass on the thing just for the sake of it being expensive. I appreciate you reply! Gonna check it out this weekend.
 
Cool, I'm sure you'll dig it, they rock for the money and are loaded with features. Plus, its nice to have the ability to swap it around between rifles too, as its not just a .22 scope.

And, a couple of back-up ideas:
If you might want higher power options, there aren't many id recommend under $700, but the Vortex Viper PA 6.5-20x44 or 6.5-20x50 are both about the best "budget" high-powered glass I know of for a little over $400, sometimes even cheaper with the target reticle. Less features, but nice glass for the price. For more plain-jane hunting type scopes with stellar glass for the money, look at both the Zeiss Conquests and Minox ZA3/ZA5's (with parallax adjustments) on closeout pricing!

I was in the same boat as you and opted for a Zeiss Conquest for around $750. It is a great scope and noticeably more crisp than my Nikon Monarch.
 
Thanks "djarecke" I haven't looked at that yet. I did do a few hours of research and "reviews reading" on the SWFA 3-15x42 and I'm pretty convinced that it's the way to go for me, in fact it looks like down the road my Daniel Defense M4 V5 might be sporting one too!
 
The best 22LR scope ever is the March 1-10x24 Tactical Illuminated.

The March scopes has the closest near focus of 10 yards at max mag. The 1-10 also has the most elevation adjustments of any scope out there with 200 MOA of elevation range plus zero stop. This allows you to dial waaaayyyy out there (like 450 yards) and then dial back to your original zero.

Finally, it is small and light so you won't find yourself mouthing some big ugly behemoth on what is a fairly small and light rifle.

CanPopper, that Tactical from Australia looks killer but it truly would put me WAY DOWN UNDER! $2795.00 AUD is almost $2900.00 US, SWFA is "High End" for me!
I think a bit smaller step up on this build is closer to my budget. Thanks for the reply though, I wasn't aware of those guys and they sure make some sweet scopes, I definitely agree with the size also, that really would be some nice glass on a 10/22 KIDD build.
 
personally, i really like the burris timberline 4.5-14x32 for a rim fire scope, it's small, light, parallax adjustable down to 7 yards. it's just a nice little scope
 
I have the Vortex 6.5-20 on a Kidd build and really like it. The extra magnification makes shooting groups a lot of fun. With the 10moa base you should be able to reach out. It is a larger scope so give that some thought. You can get it for $430.
 
GN, is yours the 44mm or 50mm? Who do you deal with on that?

You might as well go with a 20MOA base since most these scopes are 1" tubes. Who knows how far you might want to try and lob one?
 
Just ordered a Millett 4-16x50 with illuminated mil dot reticle for my Clark Custom 10/22 build. It has an optics planet best product rating for $320. Sounds like you are going higher end. But you might consider.

I ordered and received an SWFA SS 3-15x42 and gotta say it's everything I hoped for and then some. I do have to say I was pretty disappointed when I phoned my order in and asked for some help with mounts. After explaining what the scope was going on and what it would be used for he couldn't offer me any help or suggestions for appropriate mount or rings. I have used American Defense in the past on my AR's and been very happy with them so I asked about them, he said we're out of stock. I asked again for any suggestions and got nowhere. In my excitement and haste, I got online and ordered a ADC QD from another vender. They both arrived the same time the other day and to my disappointment (my fault) the thing is way too high, so back to the vendor and ordered a set of NightForce 30mm low rings that are on the way. Can't wait to get this thing finally back together! Thanks for all the valuable input and in particular Crosshair for getting me set in this direction. As the guys over at RimFire tell me it's overkill, but what the hell, it's gonna be great! Will post some pics when it all comes together. Thanks again, Scott
 
A little late to the party, but I have two KIDD built rifles and went through the same thing looking for glass for these rifles. I ended up with that exact Leupold VX II 3-9 CDS scope listed above for a lightweight hunting build, and a Sightron SII Big Sky for a target rifle setup. The Big Sky is amazing glass for the money. I picked up a 6-24x model from amazon for $549 shipped, it focuses down to 10 yards and is crystal clear. If your SWFA doesn't work out, check out a Sightron. Cheers!

Awesome Deal, Scott! That should be about the perfect scope setup for that build. Everyone I've read about so far that has one is thrilled with them for the money, and I think they're one of the most versatile scopes out there. I'm going to have one on my SPR shortly. The NF rings should be good to go. Look forward to pics : )
