Hi! Can someone with a R700 with a 26" barrel and an AICS 2.0 please measure it folded?? I'm trying to see if it would fit in a Pelican 1700 case that's 36" (internal measurement) long.

Thanks for any help!

I was thinking about this one the other day. An AI AE with a 24" barrel is 43" long. Add two inches and you get to 45" I've been told that the folder on the AICS takes out around 6-8" leaving you with at best 37" long folded with a 26" barrel. The Pelican 1700 is 35.75" inside length so... I don't think it fits.

Dammit! ....ok let's hope for some fluffing of the listed measurements haha.

Can anyone actually measure theirs and let us know?!

I had a 700p with the 2.0 stock and put it in a 1720. IIRC a 20" will fit the 1700 but certainly not a 26". Good luck!

Uhh I measured it exactly "on the other board". :p

Well it is a Surgeon action but I believe it has the same foot print as the rem700 short.

37" folded without brake.
39" folded with brake.

Don't forget to account for the 1-2 inches of foam on either end. Personally I'd probably go for 3" of hardened foam on each end.

Any chance you could measure it exactly. I've was told 37" on another board which is 1" less than what you listed. Some cases are in the 1/4in difference, is yours exactly 32" right on the money?

Thanks for you help!

I'm not sure how 37" is 1" less than 39.5" or 32"...

Remington 700 with a 20" barrel in an AICS is 32" +/- 0.0625 measured along the bore axis from the end of the barrel to the end of the "hook" in the grip part of the stock, when the stock is folded.

The other dimension to take under consideration is once folded, the thickness of the package is 4", or 4.5" if you include the sling loop at the hinge at it's widest point. This doesn't include however far the windage knob sticks out.
