I am looking for any input on the OziExplorer progrom for GPS navigation on either PDA's or Trimble products...

I had seen a few posts by One Shot ST (formerly Davide) but have not seen anything from anyone else....

I'm familiar with it from off roading , it's a fairly robust program that allowed for a good deal of user tweaking and importing of data such as tracks, routes, etc. Not sure if it's still the cats meow these days as there are a lot more programs out there than before for different pursuits. I seem to recall the learning curve of the software to be a bit higher than some of todays programs.

So far I have only found 2 programs for the Trimble Nomad running windows mobile 6.0. I found OziExplorer and Back Country Navigator. It seems both of these programs are very functional on the Android OS but fairly underdeveloped on any other OS. Any other suggestions?

I would like it for marking hunting areas, viewing topo maps and I do a lot of diving and would be marking waypoints and routing back to them. I used several Garmin devices in the past and would like to get something that would get me some usability. I know I likely will not be at the same level as the purpose built Garmin units but the above is my goal.

I really liked Ozi on a Touch screen laptop. I never used it on a handheld though. I always wanted as much screen as I could get. The think I thought they did really well was the open API that let anyone develop software and interact with the application. I used it to do a lot of off roading and rock hounding I did some work to write to the API for a weather tracking application to integrate with the mapping software.

I mostly use a garmin GPSMap 60CSX for my hunting (along with hunting GPS maps) - its easier and does a good job for hunting.
