I could not find any phone APP's to range calculate with MOA. I have mil-dot scopes and a "Mil-Dot" app. I was hoping to use my Sightron S111 8-32 with a mil-dot range estimation apt.
At 24x the scope has 2MOA=2.094" intervals, at 28.5x =1.6875 MOA =.5mil intervals. So if I set my scope at 28.5 it should be set to use as a mildot with 1/2 mil measurements.
Do you see anything wrong with my math or theory?

Don't you need 1.719 moa to equal .5 mil? 1.6875 Might be close enough? It's about a 2% difference, about .33" at 1000 yds if my 10:00 pm math skills are up to it.

A mil is 3.6" @ 100yds......so shouldn't the proper magnification have a .5 mil spacing of 1.8 inches @ 100yds.

It seems to me that it would be pretty simple if using the approximate 28X magnification and a target paper with 1.8 inch spacing would be easy to draw up and see would it not?

If I read the PDF of the MOA-2 reticle link correctly, I think the power setting is quoted in MOA not inches. That is why we where converting the 1.8" ----to MOA
I have figured out the best solution! I am going to measure and mark a 7.5 mil vertical line, place that target at 100yards. Then turn my power ring until that distance lines up with 15 of my MOA spacing. Mark the scope power ring at that position (each space .5 mil) Too much math just go old school.
Thanks for your help and input.
