Well, I went to the range today to shoot some 300yard groups and the MIRAGE was UNGODLY... Well, to make a long story short & after wasting some ammo on some groups @ 300yards I figured I haven't played around with my RTS offset back up iron sights for some mirage free shooting at 75yards!! LOL! I got to tell you, I need to play around with my RTS sights more often as it was loads of fun! Other people at the range seriously stopped what they were doing just to watch me shoot and was amazed that I was getting better groups with my irons than their crappy hunting rifle scopes & light weight barrels! LOL, good stuff. Man, having a bad ass LMT is sooooo fun....

Anyway, this is what I did with my RTS sights 5shot group @ 75yards if you wanted to know. I'm not even sure if this is good, bad, or ugly for back up iron sights, but this is what I came up with as I love spreading my info love ;) I sighted my RTS sights last year right before deer hunting and they were spot friggen on as they should be = one dead ass deer.

The main reason my RTS sights = are on my rifle is for when a deer might run past my tree stand. Other than that, just down right screwing around at the range and to make my LMT a MOD-0 copy of NZ / BRIT special force DMR set up.... My LMT MWS really kicks brass a LONG ways, so if you can imagine shooting my LMT at a side angle and my brass flying straight up in the air about 10 friggen feet!! It is like its raining .308 brass on your head! I know, it sounds like a new rap song.... LOL! good stuff! good stuff!

Nice Shooting! My two partners were practicing quick shooting at close ranges with their 7.62 gas guns while running Paul Howe's Sniper Standards. Back up sights made for quick work of the targets.

    SNIPER STANDARDS SEPT 2010

The enclosed drills are designed with three purposes in mind:

    A measurable standard to maintain.
An efficient stair-stepped workout program that covers all the bases.
To test the individual shooter at various times to show areas needing improvement.

    1. Ready 1 shot/Unsupported/Prone Body 100 yards 7.00 sec.

    2. Ready 1 shot/Bipod/Prone Head 100 yards 7.00 sec.

    3. Ready 1 Shot/Stand to Kneel Body 75 yards 6.00 sec.

    4. Ready 1 Shot/Prone to Kneel Body 75 yards 7.00 sec.

    5. Ready 1 Shot/Stand to Kneel Body 50 yards 5.00 sec

    6. Ready 1 Shot/Prone to Kneel Body 50 yards 5.00 sec

    7. Ready 1 Shot/Stand to Kneel Body 25 yards 4.00 sec

    8. Ready 1 Shot/Prone to Kneel Body 25 yards 5.00 sec

    9. Ready 1 Shot/Stand to Kneel Head 25 yards 5.00 sec

    10. Ready 1 Shot/Low Ready Body 7 yards 1.5 seconds

    Total: 10 Rounds Rifle

At a recent sniper school I went to one of the instructors said something to me that really made me think. He said," why are you letting an entry guy shoot faster and more accurately than you as a sniper," inside 75yds. I realized that I was taking too much time trying to get the "perfect" shot when in reality I needed to get lead on target. Paul's drill really help push your limits.

ohhhh wow! that is such good info and sounds like loads of fun! thanks so much for this info!

I might just try this. Thanks my friend!

Elfster, I want you to stop posting pictures of your LMT. It makes me horribly jealous and repeatably check my bank account.

very same place I purchased mine / very same link also! was at my house in 4 business days from purchase.

can we say auto email notification!

I see the stainless steel 16" version is in stock for $3,149.00 but is kinda high priced ( LMT 308 Modular Weapon System 16 Stainless Steel Flat Matte LM308MWSF )... Think you could get a better price than this. But the above deal I mentioned with 20" CL barrel was SICK! same price I paid for mine before everything went full retard during sandy hook which is kinda amazing being that they are so hard to get right now... you can even sell the back up irons that come with the LMT on ebay for $125 easy dropping the price down the the $2,325ish range once you pay the FFL a $25 fee.

That made it worse. Way Way worse.

I was running Paul's drill with a bolt gun, against two gas guns and it was amazing how much better they handled. It helped convince me to sell my bolt gun and get a JP 308. Three month wait left.
