I thought I read here sometime back that both are the same? Is that true? I wonder because all mile high show are SA skins and no mention of LA. If I can use 1.5 SA skins on my 1.5 LA then I will order a set now but I just want to make sure they will fit.

They are different. Victor makes some really cool skins, and I've talked to Michael Victor about them. I know you have to tell him what action you have so he can know which parts to ship you. You can see that on their order form they require you to specify that as well: v

I recently wrote a blog post that compares the new AICS skins to other AI stock setups. Thought you might find it helpful: AI Stock Shootout: AX vs AICS vs AICS with Viperskins | Precision Rifles & Handloading

Okay, I knew Michael's had a difference but I thought I read here there was basically no difference between SA /LA but I guess I will have to wait. Thanks for the link I will read it but I am really leaning toward the AI as I find the buttstock better looki g and I like the hook of the AI.

You can't go long to short but you can go short to long. You have to cut the mag well a little to do it and If you want to use the front action screw with the skins on u will have to drill it

With the latest legacy stock sides you have an insert to fill the gap from long to short. In the older style stock sides turtlesniper was correct but now that is not the case. In the old style we had to machine out the stock sides to make a short action into a magnum as well as having to machine the "fixed cheek piece" part of the stock to make it suitable for adjustable cheek piece. Now the stock sides do not have to be machined and instead some trimming has to be done in some circumstances. They are also suitable for right and left hand, AICS, AE and AW.

I finally got around to doing this and I called Mile High to order as they are about the only ones that have SA sides in stock. They told me this was a no go and it could not be made to work. They said they are still waiting on AI to make the LA pistol grip sides. I even read them Tom's response. I just want to confirm I can use SA sides on a LA chasiss...

Unsure of who you talked with as most of our staff is at the Shot Show in Vegas, but Tom's response is correct. Our gunsmith is also at the show and can talk with you next week on the mods if you need. His name is Adam.

Let me know if you have any other questions

Thanks for the quick reply, I just ordered them. I hope I don't have to call Adam (lol)
