I just took out a new rig with a hogen receiver and 16" noveske barrel and ran some fgmm168 smk's and tried to zero it and the rounds were keyholing.....
Any ideas?

Could be any number of issues causing your problems, but off hand...using an Armalite-pattern barrel (Noveske) with a DPMS-pattern receiver and BCG isn't a great idea (although people do it sometimes if they also run an Armalite-pattern BCG). ;)

Generally in my experience, Noveske tubes are threaded concentric to the bore so if your bullets are contacting your brake/FH, it could be an issue with the unit itself and not the barrel.

A little more info on your setup and any pics of said "keyholing" might be useful.

Eliminate one thing at a time. If it has a brake or flash suppressor or whatever, take it off and shoot a few and see if you have any changes. As above, you didn't give much info. Is it keyholing every shot or just occasionally? I know it is frustrating, but you can sort it out. Good luck...

Ok, its keyholing every shot. It has a brake, surfire three prong. I havnt been on the site much since the new site came on line so bare with me on this. Ill try to get picks up on it to

Check your FH (its NOT a brake) and see if one of the prongs is bent inward or otherwise appears to be getting damaged by bullets exiting and making contact...shouldn't be difficult to see if that is the case. While the SF is pretty sturdy, I have see this happen with Vortex FH units(similar design in some respects) in the past when they have been damaged in shipping, dropped, used as a "persuader" or other improper purpose. ;)

The reason I ask for pics is because as strange as it sounds I've seen someone get "keyholes" on paper when in fact they didn't realize they were skipping the rounds off the ground when trying to zero and they mistook the keyholes for being on paper.

What JT and Nick said.
You could be zeroed way too low.

What distance are you shooting?

Try shooting at a longer distance with your scope at lowest power so you can see where the round is impacting.

If you're key holing, then a couple of obvious things to check first. Number one, bullet weight and your barrel twist. Number two, whatever you have attached at end of your barrel. Start with weight and twist.
