I tried searching for this and the only found a thread i have allready started a few days ago.So if this is allready covered somewhere i appoligize.
My question is what are your thoughts on this scope. I know it has 100 moa of ele.-win.
I am working on another savage that will be used for a tac.-hunting style rifle. He likes the idea of target turrets.he also likes the idea of moving through the brush seeing how the target turrets are covered with caps.
I the quality as good as a lets say 3.5-10x40mrk-4,it seems like the price is a little lower on this scope espicially for a mark 4 with mil-dots.Is this a true mark 4 or is this a souped up vx3. also does anyone have a picture of this scope with the caps 0ff? thanks everyone.

Re: leupold mark 4, 4.5-14x40 lr/t

This is a good scope. I have one one on my 300 wby. While I wish it had 1/4 MOA clicks rather then 1/4 inch it is still a very good optic for the money. If you want pics of one with the caps off go look at pics of my rifles. I leave the caps off my scope.

Re: leupold mark 4, 4.5-14x40 lr/t

longshot38 i have looked through all your posts i cant seem to find a picture of your rifles. maybe i overlooked it which post is it under. Then maybe with my unreliabe computer skills i can search the thread and find it.
Sorry to take up your time.

Re: leupold mark 4, 4.5-14x40 lr/t

All MK4's are pretty much "souped up" VX3's (not the new VX3's - they have a different coating on the glass) w/ the exception of the fixed ones. They are a little cheaper because they come with target turrets not M1's, M2's or M3's. Hope this helps.

Re: leupold mark 4, 4.5-14x40 lr/t

got one from Mike @ CS Gunworks/w TMR, and M1 knob, on paralax adj, it is sweet, have it on my 300wm. The clicks are awsome, clicks that are very positive!!!! Give Mike a call!!!

Re: leupold mark 4, 4.5-14x40 lr/t

I have one on my STS and I can't complain. There is a picture of it in the 20" thread.

I would like to support someone that supports all of us.

Re: leupold mark 4, 4.5-14x40 lr/t

Think this is a great optic for a SPR since it's little longer then the MK4 3-9 still shorter then the uo to 10x mk4 leupold. And the 40mm objective keeps it nice low-profile!
Just my .02!

Re: leupold mark 4, 4.5-14x40 lr/t

Great work on busting them yotes...
Jesus If I could find a field like that, full of yotes with such a view in MI
I'd quit bitching about my taxes here!

This is my favorite spot up the road from my home...
I have spent a few hours here....

Re: leupold mark 4, 4.5-14x40 lr/t

The MK4 4.5-14x40 is a great scope. I have been using one for almost 2 years on a duty rifle. Shot the best at my sniper school with it, but I'm now upgrading to a Nightforce.

Re: leupold mark 4, 4.5-14x40 lr/t

One last question everyone lets say your using a 168 federal match king in a 308,24"barrel,20 moa base, with the 100"of adjustement. How far could a person expect to get out to?

Re: leupold mark 4, 4.5-14x40 lr/t

Your round will go transonic before you run out of elevation. Theoretically that combo would get you 70MOA of elevation in a perfect world.

Digging up this thread........Could someone tell me what power the Mil-dot retical in this scope is accurate at? I have never had a mark 4 but I am going to guess at 14x?

Hairy, Yes. The mil-dots subtend correctly at max power. That being said, once you get the scope, confirm yourself independently and check tracking. The little screws that hold the outer turret in place (to set zero) also have a habit of stripping out over time. Keep an eye on those. If they fail to engage properly and shake loose from recoil you are likely to make a false correction.

Good stuff thx brad...fellow usaf vet myself.

I've got this scope and it's nice. Go through the fed/mil program and you should be able to get it for around 700-800$. Here's a look at max power on a 100y target.

SWFA Samplelist I got mine for $649. ($720 shipped to the house and that is with paying Texas Sales Tax as the folks at SWFA are up in Dallas/Forth Worth area) I could get a NEW one through Leupold Fed Mil Program for around 700, but I am paying same price and I get to keep my "1 wish" from Leupold in my back pocket, as I have an AR build and a .260 Build going on right now too.

Leupold 4.5-14x40 Mark 4 LR/T Rifle scope DEMO-B

no mil conversion for this yet, i just checked a couple months ago. it will show up on the custom shop site when available.

Dang, with a mil conversion this scope would be just perfect. I have no need for 50mm bells. If the told this in ffp with m5....they wouldn't be able to keep them on the shelves!

Those two features alone would drive the price up about 1K. Has nothing to do with production costs, its just demand.

Hell I would be happy to pay the full 1500 for those features on this scope. The size, weight, bell diameter etc are all perfect for my needs.

I would reccomend the TMR reticle if you decide to call the custom shop. It makes milling MUCH easier.

leupold said the price will be the same as the 3.5-10x40/M5, but they aren't gonna do it until more inquiries come in.

i'm selling my 4.5-14 cause they won't do a retro fit right now

the 4.5-14x40 Mk4 Target is my favorite small profile scope. I have it on my AAC-SD, and at 16oz it keeps the overall weight of my light target rifle at under 10lbs unloaded. Sub-$1000, tons of travel, light weight, Mil Dot reticle, etc.. etc... and it should fit almost any need!

Been Looking at the 4.5-14 myself. I have a converted VX-III with TMR reticle and M1 turrets on my 22 trainer.

I am seriously looking at matching it with a MK 4 and Illum Ret for my SR25-MK11 paper puncher.

Seems like a perfect match for that rifle (my ACOG deal posted on another thread went away-- The same guy is looking to trade for this scope.).
