So got back to Starkville today after the holiday weekend to find my door kicked in, all my dvds/Blu-rays gone, and an entire bottle of Dextroamphetamine (Generic Adderall). Steals all that crap but leaves my desktop worth over 1500$, a ps3, an xbox 360, and a TV. He takes the only Xbox game i have here, yet leaves my roommates four? Idk this is weird. SOB knows my schedule because my other roommate/neighbor works at the ER and isn't here 4 nights a week. People keep telling me it's someone i know but i have no idea honestly.

most likely it's Minor or older Teen. & lives in same complex as you .
    .
    edit add:
they left the larger item like ( PC, TV etc. ) because they had to have smaller items to bag & carry out quickly & Most likely don't drive a vehicle or own . Small easy items to trade or sell . the generic Adderall will sell for a quick buck or eat themselves for a quick buzz.

I agree with softcock, and more than likely it's someone that has been in your apartment recently. I had similar incident only involved my garage and some power tools. It turned out to be neighbor across from our house with view of my house and garage so he knew my routine and when we were or were not home. It shouldn't have been a shock to me knowing his family situation. Many times seen his "mother" chasing him around house with a 2x4 trying to hit him. Finally confronted him and he fessed up and returned stolen items. I did not turn him into the police and he has actually turned into a very responsible adult. I hope you can find out who did it.

I think it's a friend of a friend also, just can't put a finger on it.

Did you get the place dusted for prints? DNA? You need to get the law involved...if you don't and you can't find the perp...he WILL be back.

GO all CSI on his ass! Set up snares and perimeter defenses!!!

Get a trail camera and put it somewhere discreet pointed towards your front door. Instant evidence.

I did. Called the local authorities and they came in asked some questions etc. but didn't dust or anything. I even told them about the handprint on my wall that i don't believe is mine. That's my fear is him coming back, he knows what i have in here.

I like this idea, gonna have to go get one.

Time for a hidden camera. The punk will be back and most likely will be thinking about doing it again but talking himself out of doing it so soon. He will make it near the property...and then turn and leave. He will do this several times until the urge just consumes him. If it's someone who's close who you let into the home they will be asking questions about how you're going to prevent it and if you suspect anyone. Don't ask me how I know....

Something very similar happened to a friend of mine that lived in an apt complex right by my old house. It was a giant apartment that he split with someone else that had a similar work-schedule to his and they were both often not home at weird hours as they were both in the medical field but were also known to have their lush apartment as the 'hang out party spot' for a group of friends and friends of friends, etc at times.

Well, after living there over a year and a half they had a break-in while they were both gone. It was also on the day of the week that both of them always worked much later. Cops came, did prints, asked questions, etc. Nothing turned up. 3 weeks later, another break-in, the same day of the week they both worked late.

One of them changed their 'late' day and started staying home. Sure enough, 2 or 3 weeks later someone tries the door and then there's noise outside like someone is trying to quietly get in. A look through the peephole and its 3 people from his complex that he knows; 2 are roommates and 1 is a mutual friend of both.

I hate shit like this. at my home there is some one there 90% of the time and it is completely random when there is no one there.

    I hope you find them

Well got back from eating dinner tonight with a couple of friends and a guy was walking around right outside our apartment. Right when we pulled up it looked like he was making a B line for our apartment door then he turned and kept circling "talking" on the phone in the street. Don't really know if he was talking on the phone. Either way it's suspicious.

See post #8, second and third sentence. Just don't "Zimmerman" his ass... ;)

Time to move and ditch the roommates...

Or at least harden the door. Deadbolt with 3" graded screws (not drywall screws) and a plate around the deadbolt/door handle. And +1 on video. You can set up to record to the cloud for 1 minute upon motion detect (a little google goes a long way).

Already signed on for another year. I'd rather catch the fucker honestly. It's not like i live in a bad part of starkville either honestly. It's a populated area with some rough folks here and there that come to the bar here. Other than that it's just your regular college apartment complex.

    Duly noted lol.

Working on the door, called my landlord today to get it situated. Looking for a spot to hide a camera as well.

Buy a bunch of ribeye steaks and let it be known. Inject a little poison in each, put in freezer, 3 days after next breakin, look in the obituary and you'll know who it was!

There are lots of Nanny Cams that would be hard for the thief to notice. I would use multiple cameras. If he cannot get through the door, you will need at least one trail camera outside. A steel door would be best, but then he may just come through the windows.
