Savage Stock system that accepts AR stocks, grips and rails

I'm thinking of making a "chassis system" (the term is all the rage now right?) for the Savage MKII actions that will accept an ar buffer tube in the back so i can use standard ar stocks, an AR grip and a ring up front to keep the standard AR tubes or rails from touching the barrel. I've got two MKIIs one i just installed on an airsoft AICS stock using an aluminum bedding block i made, and a TRR-SR. If this project gets underway, I'll probably just get another FV-SR and use that one for this project.

Since I'd be machining this on my CNC mill I'm trying to gauge interest in something like this. I'll probably at least make a few to make the programing and setups worth while but wondering how many folks might be interested to see if maybe i should make a decent sized first run. I have to make up some drawings first but the pricing will probably be around 350-500 depending on qty made and it'll be made out of 6061-T6. It won't include AR parts (grip, rails, stock, buffertube).

I'm a second generation aerospace machinist/inspector by trade so it'll be made right and to tight tolerances.

I'd be very interested in upgrading from my tacticool trainer. Can't wait to see how they turn out!

there was a guy here about a year ago that was going to do something similiar. definately interested in one if you decide to do one.

nice thing about it is all you need to make is the center portion that will cradle the receiver and just put in the "holes" for AR options.

if you can figure on how to do it for $275ish, you'll have a tough time keeping any in stock (pun intended).

^^^^^^ Second that. I'm still very interested in a MKII chassis, especially one that will accept the ar parts.

VERY interested. Running a "Tacticool" boyds stock right now but a chassis would be a cool addition. They are so hard to find one you like too so good luck in the endeavor. I'm still deciding on what I want to do with my Rem 700 SA.

I would be very interested in something like this. If I could make a .22 cal Remington MSR look alike with great performance I'd be all in.

You mean something like this?

Yes it's a lefty, grip is just a interface placeholder.

Total weight is just under 2.2lb (1.0kg) including the magpul grip, buffer tube, and MOE stock

I am very interested in a LH savage MKII/93 bolt size. I think that a, AICS style inner frame would be a huge seller. The end user would just need to get some skins to finish it out. There is a ton of people here on the hide with AICS who'd buy that for a trainer.

I made one a couple years ago. Just wasn't enough interest to get it off the ground. Well that, and the machinist I had doing the work got cancer, and could never follow through on anything.
