There is probably an answer to this somewhere on this forum but I haven't found it. When someone says their rifle shoots minute of angle at 50 and 100 yards are they talking best edge, worst edge or center to center? I shoot ARA benchrest and that is scored worst edge so I've never had it explained. Wayne

When someone tells you their 22lr shoots MOA at 100yds they usually mean inside edge to inside edge,on a good day, when they are doing their part, all day long, that one time when the wind wasn't blowing. That usually means the gun is a solid MOA gun all day long every day.
I have been the director for a postal match. We always measured center to center. taking outside to outside and subtracting bullet diameter.

I've seen it every way on here. Most go worst edge to worst edge. Some attempt to put the calipers in the centers of the furthest shots. Some measure worst to worst and subtract the width of the bullet to find the actual center.

I measure edge to edge. It really doesn't matter on here except for bragging rights. It's kind of like horsepower. Most say they have 400hp but their actual rear wheel hp is about 18% less. We ain't competing for trophies in here so do what you wish. What really matters on this forum is that first cold bore shot being on target, and if you want to brag about MOA, you better have a 5 shot group.

Thanks for the quick responses! I took a 40X to the range today and had some good results and some not so good. Did eight 10 shot groups at 100 yards with the following results. Center to center by subtracting from outside edge. .786 - .895 - .973 - 1.265 - 1.617 - 2.013 - 2.042 - 2.142. The three largest groups each had one flyer that really opened things up. I don't know if it was the ammo's fault or mine for not catching a wind change. I'm guessing my fault. The best group was with eley team and the worst with eley edge. Wayne

i've always done it outside edge to outside edge, however since center to center is more acceptable these days, my groups sounds like they've shrunk :D since going to center to center

Your average there was 1.467...not really all that bad. You probly already knew your average I am sure so lets look at the other info. There was a flier in the worst groups well that does thicken the plot. Yeah could be environmentals but one out of ten sounds like ammo. May want to look at different ammo. Know that is difficult right now. I would suggest some ammo but I won't. I am not being a prick but I will just say Eley has not given me the best performance in my Anschutz...ever. As long as I am searching for ammo and on a notify list I will not recommend ammo. Nothing personal. There is better ammo than Eley.
