Does anyone have a pet load for there 6.8 SPC ?

I intend to use the 115 grain bullet unless there is something better.

My current load gets 2780 ft/sec with the 115 Match Kings for just under 2000 ft/lbs of muzzle energy and I was wondering
if any one had something that shoots better than 3/4 MOA.

Thanks for any help

I use 28.8 grains of AA2200 with a Hornady 110gr BTHP loaded out to 2.295.

This load seems to produce great results for a lot of people over on the 68forum. Only downside is Hornady just suspended making this bullet, so I'd snatch them up quick if you find them. AA2200 is a huge favorite among the 6.8 crowd.

Hornady just sent out a letter stating they are suspending 150 types of bullets or ammo all the way across the board. They're keeping the 110gr vmax but suspending the 110 BTHP. IMHO the BTHP is a much better round. Wish they would have suspended the vmax

Maybe the vmax is cheaper to produce? I know a lot of people have had accuracy issues with the vmax.

I agree.... I can't beleive the vmax is a more popular bullet.... Most everyone I know prefers the BTHP.... Seems odd

Not to be a smart ass but, everyone you know is not the majority. The Vmax is an extremely popular round in the hunting community vs the HPBT. Dont get me wrong, I prefer the HPBT over the Vmax hands down.

Uuhhmm I didn't say that it was.... I said I had a hard time believing it was more popular due to my experience in regards to popularity among 6.8 bullets.

The HPBT makes a decent hunting bullet as well. It seems to be a very barrier blind round according to some testing.

My most accurate is 28gr of AA2200 with a 115gr Nosler 115gr BTHP. Most of time they are less than MOA at 100yds. I use the ogive for measurment but COAL is usually around 2.3", using PRI or the newest CPD mags.

You can sometimes find those Nosler bullets on sale at Shooters Pro Shop.

The Vmax is not known to be very accurate for the 6.8, their BTHP bullet is a better choice.

We are talking about in 6.8....are you talking about other calibers or 6.8? I have a hard time believing your experience in a retail store involves the 6.8. Plain and simple as you would say. Further more the way you replied to my post was asinine and made absolutely no sense or contribution to the conversation, Just argumentative .... But I guess if I worked in a retail store I'd have your knowledge.

Regalkismet out..... Lmao

Oh I thought this was about .338 cal.... Yes I'm talking about 6.8. If you can't tell I'm a little sarcastic.

If you would have taken the time to read the post for what it was you would understand that all I was saying is just because people you know ask for HPBT doesn't mean the rest of the world does. And in no way was it meant to be argumentative. No need to get butt hurt over someone's opinion from a different perspective since that's all it is

I agreed in the fact it's a better bullet and that if hornady was going to stop making one it should have been the Vmax.

So take a chill pill and stop being so defensive :D

Can't we all just get along.

I load 115 grain Nosler Custom Competitions HPBT with 29.5 grains of H322 with CCI 450 small rifle magnum primers loaded out to 2.285.
I am getting 2650 FPS out of a polygon rifled 18" 1/10 twist barrel with 1" MOA accuracy.
I buy these at Shooters Pro Shop for about $.14 per.
My most accurate loads are 95 grain Barnes TTSX on top of 29.5 grains of RL10 with CCI 450 small rifle magnum primers loaded out to 2.278. I am getting 2860 FPS with that load and groups of .71" MOA. These are expensive projectiles about $.64 each.

sierra.... You replied to my post like you know it all...... I didn't try and correct you..... Get atleast something right. Tell me what retail store are you selling all the 6.8 ammo or bullets at? Ohh and just because you may have sold more of one bullet than another at one store that means nothing on a national level.... Means no more than my original statement....get a clue.

That's what you assumed (that I know it all) as I never stated that. Ill be the first to admit that I don't know everything but I know some.

Just trying to give insight from a different perspective. Wasn't trying to piss in your Cheerios so relax bud

My go to hunting load (that is all I use my 6.8 for) is the same as the guy above.

29.5g RL10
Barnes 95 TTSX
2.295 COAL
CCI 41 primers
SSA brass
No crimp
2850 FPS

Wilson Combat 16" 1/11 SPC II

I have little experience with the vmax. But my buddy has some 52gr vmax for his mini14. He shot a rabbit with one and it blew it apart. Fmg just blew straight threw. I would say they are valuable to see small mammals inside out.

Thanks for the load data.

I have all of the components that were mentioned and will try each one.

With a good barrel, there is no reason this rifle cant shoot better than 3/4 to 1'' groups. (Except maybe Me on a bad day).

Thanks again.

If anyone else has a different load. sing out.

Actually settled on 29.2 AA 2200. 115smk, wsrm. SSA brass loaded to 2.30OAL. ARP DMR chamber 18" 10 shots in .75 at 100 yards. 2654 fps. this was all suppressed as well.

Harrison 16" melonite barrel
26.7gr 10x
CCI BR4's
SSA brass
110 Accubonds

Haven't chrono'ed it yet.
Won't say how accurate it is because someone would tell me I was full of crap.

Hope this helps.
