My 9yr old shooting at 200 yards

My 9yr old daughter has shot quite a bit out too 100 yards but this weekend she got to shoot at 200 yards. Up till now the largest bore she has shot has been a 223 but thanks too a friend and fellow forum member she got to shoot a 6.5 Creed that he was kind enough to let her shoot.

She made several hits on a steel target at 200 yards even though the LOP was a bit long for her. I recently made a deal with another member for a 6.5 Creed that sits in a AX stock. I think the adjustable LOP will work well for her. I can't wait to get her out shooting at some further distances.

I just wanted to share as I'm a proud father. She has been shooting since she was 5yrs old.

She'll be shooting out to 1000 before too long. I can't wait until my son is old enough to take out for some long range fun. Cherish the moment while it lasts.

That's awesome! I can't wait to have my daughter shooting long range. I tried it once with a 243 at 100 and she was very recoil sensitive so I just put it on hold until she got be a little older. I have a 6.5 creedmoor coming so hopefully this maybe the round that she will be able to shoot and not be adverse to recoil.

Hey that rifle looks familiar... I was glad to let her shoot my rifle and was very proud of her as well. I think if it wasn't so hot on the dark shooting mats, she is probably a good enough shot to make hits on that chest-sized plate at least to 400-500 yards. I'll look forward to shooting with you guys again soon. Happy birthday to your daughter as well.

Thank you I think your right about her being able to go out further. As uncomfortable as I was in that heat I'm sure she was worse off but she was still a little trooper.

I can't wait to get out again but she won't be able to join us on the next outting due to school. I will pass along your Happy B-Day to her.

How the rifle is setup makes a big difference. I had her shooting an AR with a rifle lentgh gas system, muzzle brake, and the Magpul enhanced recoil pad since she was 7yrs old and she would dump a 100 rounds without issues. On this trip I let her shoot my 16" AR with no brake and a standard Magpul recoil pad and she was done in less then 10 rounds. Shooting VKC's 6.5 Creed with it's muzzle brake, thick recoil pad, and its weight she had no issues.
