I had been looking for a 1-4 scope for a while when a few weeks ago I came across a 1-4 uso with the FFP circle dot in a larue spr 1.5 mount for a very reasonable price. Well long story short I worked out a deal with the owner and after he received payment my USO was on its way :D Well, upon receiving my scope I was very disappointed with what I found. While looking through the scope, in the upper right hand corner I noticed something strange. I am not 100% if it is a crack in the glass or what but this picture tells the story. (The dark line that you see on the door that is going against the grain of the wood is actually inside the scope)

Well I reached out to the seller and he informed me that the scope didn't have any issues when it left his home. He even produced a picture taken just prior to me purchasing it that showed off the reticle and you can clearly see that the dark mark is not inside the scope at that time. Well I called up USO and they are going to have me ship the scope in so they can take a look at it. They were quite friendly and helpful and I do have faith that they will be able to fix it. I am just wondering how much it is going to cost if they determin that this was caused by abuse. Furthermore, I am still trying to wrap my head around what on earth the USPS could have done to break a USO scope...

Doubtful that this is a shipping problem ~ these things are designed to take extreme physical abuse.
Good Luck.

Oh, I don't know. My gun safe has "made" one of my SN-4s to degas twice, in one year.

Sent it back in on May the 7th, still haven't heard anything.

Good Luck.

Yes it is unfortunate. I was the one that sold it to him. I sure did not pack it like the poor fellas S&B 5-25 on the thread above. It also sucks because that was probably the clearest USO I have had to date. U.S Optics I think will take care of it. I have always had better than good luck with them. I just hope I get the same level of service with my S&B.

Two examples in one day of why you don't send expensive things via USPS.

Sucks to see but luckily if there's one thing USPS is good at it's filing a claim with insurance. You need to take pictures of the packaging, damage, and serial number and start a claim before you send it to USO. Once USO gets it you will need to give USPS a total for the cost of repair.

Good luck dealing with USO though, they take fucking forever to fix a scope. You need to call to make sure they stay on top of it so it doesn't go out of USPS's insurance claim period.

I don't trust UPS, USPS or even Fedex......they all broke my stuff before but like other says i don't think the shipping is the problem. Most of the USO scope built like a tank....even u smash it won't break :D

Was the shipping box damaged when you received the scope in it ?
& Is there no dents or any damage to the scope to surest abuse to the scope happened ?

Wondering ?
Can a crack of internal Lens fracture happening . where the Turret/Erector system was bottomed-out (heavy handed forced) . & it was forced a fracture on Lens . ?
.

Pic before it left my place. I wonder if someone from USO could chime in & explain?

In my experience USO has always been great to deal with. Anytime I've sent them a scope back for a check up I think the max length of time they kept it was 2 weeks.

Sorry but this is the sellers problem and they need to fix it. I'd file a claim but if it was shipped USPS I'd bet a claim will get denied

Yah I am going to be starting the usps claim tomorrow and we will find out from uso what the actual problem was. When I talked to uso they mentioned adjusting the knob too much but I have not even played with the knobs yet so who knows. I dont think it is the sellers issue though because it was fine when it left his care

Hmmm...u bought a scope that was represented to be gtg right...u received it broken...u received broken scope...sellers issue. This is cut and dry. Not saying sellers fault but if seller packed and shipped correctly, it's sellers responsibility to go through claims process

Your in good hands, USO will get it sorted out for ya!

Think about it a little more . Not always ..." Cut & Dry ". like you say .
Who paid for Shipping & Insurance ?
Buyer or Seller ?
.
Not insinuating the seller sent a item intentionally broken . Things do get broken or lost in the travel point to point .
( for me ) .. Little items I don't really care but, most of the time, on expensive items . I always include shipping & insurance on the purchase of an Item that I am selling & Shipping . The 'Buyer' buys insurance if desired with shipping cost .
.

I dont know what the problem is, looks like a German post reticle to me, so you got 2 reticles instead of 1, i'd send the seller more money

I would not worry at all, the guys/gals at USO are awesome! If you need help getting this resolved, pm me and I'll do anything to help a fellow shooter.

They got the idea from counter sniper scopes.
They better be careful, they might get sued for patent infringement.

I don't know about the second reticle. I should give it a try perhaps :D, as for lazy's comment, I appreciate it and I will keep you in mind. I don't think that they will give me a hard time but we will see.
