Why does an AR10 shoot a one hole group at 100 yrds with a bobsled but shoot high and low with a mag? AR10 custom 20" Rock, adjustable gas block adjusted to bolt hold open they 1/8 turn more. 175 SMK in winchester brass under 2600 fps. Both groups came off the gun and rebuilt position after each shot. Any thoughts?

Possible bullet set-back/deformation when feeding from the mag if you don't have a sufficient crimp on them?

Try cycling (but not firing) from the mag and see if you are getting any measurable difference in what you are loading in terms of your COAL and what you get after the round has been battered around/chambered from the mag/etc. Similarly, look for any signs that your bullets (or cases) are experiencing any damage while you are doing the same cycling drill as above (case necks banged up, shoulders dented, bullets messed up, etc.).

Well the bobsled centers the cartridge for entry into the chamber while rounds from the mag hit the feed ramp. Perhaps you have an alignment issue or rough spot on the feed ramp that is dinging up those Match Kings on the way in? Would probably be a reach though.........................................???
