Well Here is my experience. Today I mounted my new Bushnell XRS on a 300 Win mag. I was assisted by several of the precision team shooters and a well decorated military operator who has been shooting long range matches as well. We followed all the directions. Mounted with Nightforce rings, torqued to spec and leveled. After mounting we were not able to get the elevation turret to turn more than 9 mils. It seemed as though the zero stop had engaged. We went back and did the reset. We then able to get the full range of elevation. Shot it 3x and the turret locked up again. Long story short. 5 experienced shooters and 3 hours of adjusting and shooting before we got the turrets to work. I am now afraid to set the zero stop and risk getting back to the mess we started with. The glass is awesome. The G2 works great for me. The scope tracked great from 100 to 700 and back. I must say I am disappointed with the 3 hours of time it took to get it to work. I am afraid to try it in competition if the turret could possibly fail. I am going to have a 24 hour cool off period before I decide on whether to return it. This is just my experience today. Many people have had better results. That was the main reason I decided on the XRS.

Would you guys return it and get another brand
or
Would you exchange it for a new one and hope it was just a bad turret?
Thanks

The instructions for setting the z-stop that come with the scope fucking stupid!
The instructions tell you to turn the slotted screw all the way down and all that does is set the erector at zero down.
In order to get the z-stop released all you have to do is this.
After you loosen the 2 set screws just use the allen wrench set in the screw and lift up on that part of the turret.

Sonic Saami, The instruction manual was discussed among the group as well. If anyone knows of a detailed you tube for working the XRS zero stop please posr. Thanks Sonic Saami.

I don't think you have anything broke or wrong with the scope.
Just examine how the elevation turret works you will figure it out.
#1- Don't use the instruction manual,its wrong.

Take off the outer cap.
Loosen the 2 set screws and lift up on that part of the turret with the 2 screws.
The scope should now be off the stop.

Turn the slotted screw all the way down then all the way back up counting how many turns it takes and set the screw in the middle of its travel.
Re set the 2 set screws.

Zero the rifle.
Set the stop.

Now when turn the inner turret clockwise do not move the slotted screw,if the screw moves the rifle will no longer be at zero.
If you move the rifle off zero just loosen the set screws and move that part of the turret (the part with the set screws) up to get it off the stop and re zero.
Its easy once you have done it 2x or so.

Sonic Saami, Thank you for the detailed instructions. I will print it off and give your advice a go.

Don't feel alone with being confused by the zero stop. It confused me too. I ended up saying the hell with it. It's on a 6.5 gun and needs less than 10 mils to 1100. I do want to figure it out though.

FWIW - my USO and S&B came with absolutely pathetic instructions too. It drives me nuts to spend this kind of cheese on a scope to have absolute shit instructions.

dvdt, Thanks I agree I want to utilize the full capabilities of my equipment. More importantly have confidence in it. My concern came with so many very experienced shooters shaking their head and saying it was screwed up.
