I am in the process of building a Remington LA in 7mm Rem Mag. I have already purchased the gun and a Krieger 5R MTU blank. I like the looks of the B&C M40 stock but I am not sure how big the barrel channel and if it will work without having it modified. What stocks should work without modifications? Also, I'd appreciate any advise as this is my first build. I intend to have the action trued, a heavy duty recoil lug added and the Krieger blank mated to the reciever.

Thanks,
Jon

Planning on having it bedded to the stock correct? Cause then they can woller out yer barrel channel for the barrel at the same time i wouldnt stress on if the mtu will fit a stock, just find the stock you like in your price range and jam out with your clam out

I would like to do the detachable mags but it will be a while before I get to that. I'm just doing what I can as I have the overtime $ to cover it. A buddy of mine has a Rem 700 LA in 284 win with DBMS that works pretty slick.

By the time you spend your money on buying a new stock and bedding the rifle, you could get a Manners mini-chassis that will perfectly fit your MTU contour. It will eliminate the need to bed your rifle and it will come with a DBM system. If you want more of a metal chassis look, an AICS 2.0 or a McRees are also good choices.

VJJ's suggestion is pretty good too.

I think that m40 B&C stock is short action only... Im doing the same thing with the B&C Medalist in the olive with black web! and a sendero profile barrel upgrade. Also im gona bed the recoil lug area for a lighter hunting / long range tack driver.

Nope. I have a long action version sitting next to me. Its up for sale too.

I have that very set up sitting in my basement right now. The M40 stock had to be opened up to accept the barrel. Tom Sarver at TVP did the stock inlet and the barrel install for me. Im also running the stealth DBM from PTG and had to inlet it a tad to get it to fit properly.

Good luck,
Merritt
