AICS comes with the new skins but is the chassis the same underneath?

I like the looks of the original "legacy" skins: ge5h.jpg

Now apparently all AICS chassis systems ship with these skins: etm1.jpg

Underneath the new skin, is the same chassis there? SPECIFICALLY, is the large, black half rectangle where the bolt handle rests still there underneath the new skin: 63s0.jpg

Does anyone know?

No the new skins don't have the box around the bolt handle. Its just got a small little cut out and the skins come right up to the edge of it.

Wow thanks for responding so quickly. So that box/rectangle is part of the chassis or part of the skins?

Thanks for all the quick replies! So I guess the new question is where do I find an unused older style AICS?

Mile High carries the legacy versions the last I heard. AI was supposed to start selling the updated skin sides for the newer chassis per Tom Irwin of AI. But I haven't looked into purchasing the updated stocksides as of yet.

Oh man thanks vvillium3! I am definitely going to check in with them. If they turn out to indeed have the legacy version I don't care if there's a wait. I am at this point in time probably going to spend my next three or four pay checks on just AICS chassi's if in fact Mile High has the legacy type. Plan is to get two in long action and two in short action. Yep, that's how much I like the older style over the new.

Welp. Just contacted mile high. I was informed that when the AICS come back into stock they will only have the new skins as well. Durn it. I may be out of luck.

I got a set of black skins without the square cut out, easy enough to file/dremmel them to fit. Not sure which model they were, no action bolt access either. Work perfectly.
