I sold my 6.5-284 and bought a 260. But now I have 7 lbs h4831sc and 500 140 amax. Has anyone had any luck making this work? Or should I sell my powder and restock 4350?My rifle will have a 26 inch barrel with an 8 twist.

I think a lot of guys have made 4831SC work. You are probably going to have to make it work, because H4350 is made from unobtanium at the moment it seems. Have not seen it anywhere in months.

I had a great luck with that combo.. I wasnt running it to hot but I was more concerned with accuracy.

you should be fine with the SC, if you had the LC, I'd be concerned. Seems like the LC would take the case capacity up before you'd get decent velocity out of it.

And on that note, anyone with a line on H4350, don't hesitate to give me a shout. I am on my last 150 rounds, then I am hanging up the rifles...time to search for another hobby.

45.8grains is my sweet spot. Don't know what the velocities are but I keep it around .75" group at two hundred shooting 142SMK

These are from the Spartan Precision Rifle facebook page.

Hope this helps...

H4831sc will work just fine since you have it. Depends on the rifle, some are having really good results with H4350, also. Although I never shot any 140 Amax I had good results with 140 and 142 SMK's and 140 Berger VLD's using necked up Lapua .243's and the Rem .260 brass when it came out. Depending on brass make, charge weights from 42.8 to 45.0 did well.

Shooting in F Class Open, the .260 and 140 class bullets got me to Master in Long Range and High Master in Mid Range, so the accuracy is there and well documented in numerous posts here on the hide by others, as well.

You have what you need to get started - your 26" 8 twist should be just fine.

H4831sc will work just fine with the 140 A-max.

What chamber? More specifically, what is freebore length? If a Tac Match chamber with 0.088" or so of freebore you'll be in the 46 + / - .5gr range when it comes in. I'd start in 45 gr range and work up. Load up one rd each at 45 to 46.5 in 0.5 gr increments and chrono, check for pressure. Quick n dirty way to bracket for velocity and pressure w/o burning up ton of components.

I'd jump the A-max 0.040" to start, more if needed.

YMMV
