Any one tried these. How do they load compared to the VLD.

Hey now! Where'd you get those? Can we get a pic of the projectiles?

Berger's Hybrids have been very easy to load in my 308. I treated them just like a SMK at mag length and they've been great. Those 130's have been on my mind for a long time, was wondering when they'd become available.

This is the answer that I received from another Forum. If that is so I think I will try to see if Berger will take them back and send me some VLDs.

"Those are from a pre-production lot. There have been 2 of these lots but they are still in the process of being tweaked. Don't spend too much time or pass judgement on these until more come out. Having said that I have a rifle built, throated for them, and waiting."

Ringing steel, I would like to hear all about these. The g1 or g7 number ect not just the numbers on the box. Where and when they are going to be available. And what the damage is per 100.

I paied $ 48.25/100 but the shop that I found them at is well known for gouging anyone he can. He had the 140 Hybrids priced at $61.00 and change/100. Try to support the small business owner and he is the first to stick it to you.

Damn, I didn't know these existed. If these were tipped they would probably be equivalent to at least a 140 Amax BC but you could push them probably 100 fps faster :)

By the box, they already have a higher bc, and berger has been pretty spot on lately.
I'm sure there has been shooters across the country testing these for a few months, that's how they do things.
AS, email M. Gallager at Berger with some pics of your groups, maybe they will put you on their test list.
She's been here in the reloading section looking for guys to test bullets before, I think it was .338 stuff.

I'd bet those two boxes came from a tester that sold them off, that would be a quick way of getting off their list!

Hornady's G1 is .584-.585, I'm pretty sure that's what Litz has it at too but I've been wrong before. I don't have Litz book in front of me but I run all my ballistics for the 140 Amax at the G1 of .585 and I'm center, center out to 730 yards.

Pusher, I stand corrected, I was just going off an old xball program, not Litz's.

No info on these, but the g7 bc of the Hornady 140 is .299 according to Litz. For reference.

Not sure if this is still necessary, but to answer the original question on how they work compared to a VLD...a lot more forgiving on seating depth as is true with most hybrids.

Not the 130, but I have some 140-gr hybrid coming in from Powder Valley for my 6.5-284. Decided to try them when my supply of VLDs ran low. Oddly, Berger lists the G7 BC of the hybrid as a hair better than the VLD. Am hoping that they are more tolerant of seating depth. Will share the results when they arrive and I work up some loads.

In case the 140-gr hybrid is too long for the magazine, I am interested in the 130-gr hybrid for the AR-10 I'm having built in .260 Remington. Still waiting for a couple minor parts, like the upper receiver.

I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but is there any update on these bullets? I have a 6.5x47 being built right now and I'm sure these would be sweet in it!

the 140s were great in my 260. i've been searching for more 140s for a couple of months. i havent been able to find any. as to the 130s i'd like to try those too but can find them. the issue, at least with the 140s is length, though i have tried seating them deep enough they are really long regardless.

its almost like berger has stopped making bullets .

Any more word on these? I saw on another forum Wade Stutesville has actually had a rifled throated for these so I'm assuming he has good enough word these are still gonna be produced?

I just wish they would make a 130 Hybrid Hunt version, that would work out perfect. Been trying to decide on LR Target/Hunt bullet in the 130gr that is not picky about seating depth for 6.5CM and 6.5SAUM.

I would just run the 140 Amax. Cheap and are a great hunting round, they do some amazing damage.

Berger has stated that they will not bring new bullets to the market till they clear the back log of bullets they already make....Believe me they have pushed back production dates on bullets already brought on board.

I have a ton of them and they have FAILed to perform at any range but that's out of a Grendel and a bolt-Creedmoor. I'm not impressed by them and wouldn't buy anymore.

Care to sell 1/10 of the ton?

I'll take a 1/10 of ton also!!! Seriously, I'd like to try some if you'd like to sell a couple of boxes. PM me please.

I'd like to buy a box to try in my Creedmoor

I asked the Berger folks at SHOT if these were on the way. The reply I got was NO. Not yet anyways.

Like a few other components manufacturers they are currently focusing on simply filling existing orders and back logs.

So I sent Bryan Litz a email about this round and he said

That bullet was made on the same tooling as the 140 Hybrid, but possibly a shorter jacket. Due to negative reports of that bullets performance, it was discontinued. We’re currently working on another hybrid in this caliber and weight range but there’s no availability info on it at this time.
