SO,

hello everyone. I am not too sure if I am in the correct section as I only saw the .22 Rimfire lable.
First of all let me state that I am a NOOB. Completely when it comes to owning a weapon in general. I shot .22's as a kid and basically forgot everything except how to breathe when shooting.

My question is this (remember I am a noob now so take it easy on me y'hear),

I am looking to purchase a Savage arms .17 HMR (yes dang nabbit varmit shootin').
If I purchase an HMR am I able to use .17 HM2 or .17 Super Mag ammo in it?

Signed,
severely new and:confused::confused:

No sir,
The 17 HMR is made from a 22 magnum case necked down to accept the 17 caliber bullet. The 17 HM2 is a 22 long rifle necked down. The new 17WSM is actually from a industrial blank for construction purposes which is larger than the previous two. They are all there own entity and have to be treated as such.

+1 HMR
My ruger 77/22 mag, I was disappointed and changed it its HMR. For small game, but I still enjoy my 22lr for plinking. Then, that's my thoughts

These are excellent and highly accurate rimfires. Not to mention, the devastation the HMR has on critters is significant!
