I pulled a trigger off of a 700 that I picked up recently. It has what appears to be an adjustment screw coming out of the bottom just in front of the bolt release so that it would be accessible if you just remove the trigger guard. Everything else on the trigger appears factory except this screw under the pull adjustment screw. Can anyone shed some light on what kind of trigger this may be?

Thanks

Ryan

X-marks that I have seen have the adjustment in the trigger shoe.

This screw goes into the body of the mechanism that houses the trigger pull & over travel adjustment screws. It also has the old style shoe that is fairly wide and ribbed.

picture is worth 1k words.

Could be the newer "externally adjustable" that comes on some of the tactical rifles, Tactical Long Range XCR in my case, which is considered either an "externally adjustable trigger" or a "40x trigger" depending on serial. If it is attached to the original action, you can call remington with the serial and they will know what trigger was delivered with what action serial, though that could have been changed as well.

Mine was the "40x" version and adjustable down to 3lbs. Below that it failed to lock the sear.

Ding ding ding! 40x takes the prize. Thanks for the help. I didnt realize the 40x's were adjustable.

I am originally from Gastonia. Came through town for my Tonys Ice Cream and Blacks BBQ fix a couple weeks ago and Blacks was closed for remodeling. So I had to settle for a Tonys chilicheeseburger. Killin me man.

I can imagine. My dad bought a Mcmillan stock off ebay a couple years ago and after speaking with the seller, it ended up being Tony I believe.

And just for the record, I believe you are coming out to the good. I have had ice cream from more places than I care to say and havent found its equal. Many happy trades for your future. Hmmmm, how many half gallons does it take to equal a rifle?.....

Not to drag this out, as I can go on about ice cream with the best of them, the new 40x has a hole in side so you can see the sear engagement, or lack there of, as was in my case.
