ok guys... like a total dummy i sold my rem 40x missed it soon as it shipped off..... i know dumbass... ok now i need advice on building a NEW bolt 22lr rifle, looking at a savage with the tact bolt and stock or a cz heavy barrel dose anyone make a tacticle stock for the cz? which rifle would you guys pic and why... ill be shooting at mostly 50yrds but also 100 can shoot at a 24' gogn at 200 ill sit back and soak in the advice from the .22 masters

Budget?

I have no experience with savage .22's, as they are hard to get around here.

I have a cz455 varmint which I'm happy with so far.
cz455 precision trainer if you want a tactical stock.

Anschutz MPR seems great for the money.

Personally looking at a Anschutz 1710 or 1712 to replace my cz455. Really want a repeater action with awesome accuracy.

I can recommend the CZ 455 Varmint. I bought one with the set trigger, changed to the Boyd's Tacticool stock Boyds: TACT CZ® 455 CLIP FEED BBC LAM STK W/BLK TEXT F TactiCool and a Lilja barrel.

I've not shot a Savage or a 40x, but I'm thinking this thing is going to be a shooter. I also think that the even without the Lilja barrel it would be very accurate if my factory barrel 455 Varmint in 17hmr is any indication.

Donnie, I have a CZ 455 Varmint, and it shoots great! I also have an Anschutz 64 MPR which also shoots great! The Anschutz is more refined, with an awesome two stage adjustable trigger. The action is much smoother, and the bolt handle feels easier to grip. The Anschutz also feels like a full size rifle. All that said, they both shoot extremely accurate, and the refinements do come at a price difference of about $700.00. I got my 455 for $420.00, and the Anschutz cost $1175,00. These prices do vary a little. Hope tha helps a little.

dee, been there done that,
started the TSC match with savage, great rifle out to 100yrd, stepped up to cz 452 with mods, also great shooter around 150yrd, talked to gunsmith friend, about putting a match barrel on cz,( we shoot to 211yrds in match, sometime for s/g to 300yrd, he an others let me shoot there annie MPR 64,wow all there noting to buy but 20 moa base,an done) now to the point,cz 452 $450.00, boyds stock $100.00, rifle basix trigger, $ 75.00. if aftermarket barrel an smith work $ 375.00
total $1000.00 just to maybe shoot as good as the 64
found a used MPR at local gun shop.
for $750.00 (used very little) sold the savage to a jr shooter, cz to friend just starting out, all this said as a guide line, monies tuff, spend wisely
if you do not need that, acc then i would go with cz 455, brother inlaw has one an shoot fine out to 125yrds
just my 2 cent
good luck an remimber its all about the fun

What would you rather spend money on, something you can afford to shoot every day, or something you can afford to shoot once a week?

Buy another 40x and put it in a Bell & Carlson A2 stock...that's what I did and does it shoot...but you knew that...sometimes we don't really appreciate what's right in front of us.
