So last December I decided to put together an M40a5 spec rifle. I had searched all over the net finding what parts to buy and what not to. Then I came across a very friendly man by the name of Mark Williams at Raven Rifles. This man was/is a great source of information for my project even before I decided to send it to him. Mark helped me find tons of deals on actual parts. The scope is the only item currently not to spec but the only difference is the USMC marking on the tube, specs are identical.

Mark kept in constant communication and I received pics throughout the whole process, never had any issues with communication at any time. I would email Mark tons of questions and he gave his honest opinion on each inquiry and was appreciated every time. Hopefully the Surefire FA762SS paperwork will be in around November and she will be complete. Well now that the long winded speech is done, to the pics!

Hopefully tomorrow I can get out to the range and break her in. Will report back with better pics.

Thanks again Mark!

VERY NICE! I've got 2 rifles built by Mark, 1 of which is an M40A5 and he's doing an M40A1 for me right now. He's a great guy that does excellent work. I look forward to seeing more pics of yours posted once you get her to the range.

Congrats, Chris

Always love building any of the M40 series rifles. Can't wait for some groups. A lot of hard to find parts on this rifle.

Spent last week working up a load with 175 smk's with 06 lakecity brass and Fed 210m primers using varget. Seems like the best groupings come in around 44.1gr's for her. Going to make up some rounds tonight and head out tomorrow for some groupings and practice. Will post them all and not sugar coat it but be for warned lol I need a lot more time behind the trigger. Also called ATF NFA other day for status on my paperwork for the suppressor and its still pending. Here's hoping I get approval before 2015, was sent in April 21st, went pending May 5th.

* Newest addition to her is the Dbal-I2 with the fusion mount to put my torch pro in. With just this it wouldn't mount correctly as the contour was pushing the torch pro into the bi-pod so I got some 1" tru-glo pictanny stand offs. Mounted those to the forward rail then she fit like a glove.

And now some pics!

Testing Windage tracking on my S&B - accidentally went to far on the first adjustment, second shot left was good.

And a money shot

*dangle wire is from the torch pro, had not mounted the sticky pad yet.

Love this rifle, and a big Thanks again to Mark Williams at Raven Rifles! Now all I need is a lead on a PEQ15 so I can remove the torch pro and Dbal I-2 and stand off mounts for something slimmer.
