I got mine yesterday, there is no hash mark for elevation zero, only one white hash mark for windage zero.
I contacted the seller, they said "Your scope has no issues and this is how it comes from the manufacturer. "

Who has the same scope?? I know this is a hunting turret, but really all the Zeiss 3-9x40 scopes come like this: only ONE hash mark???

My scope:

They aren't designed to be adjusted in the field, just zeroed then kept that way...
For what it's worth, I started out with a conquest 3-12x56 as my firs long range scope. It was a pain but I just counted clicks and as long as I kept up with them it worked fine. I shot a .308 out to 700 yards with the scope and its adjustments were spot on.

Yes, I know. But I think at least I need a hash mark to indicate the elevation zero.

I have two. Both have a white hash on the scope body at the top of the turret cap threads on top, facing the eyepiece. The little triangle on the turret resets to align with it. One of them is more distinct than the other. Looks like it could "rub" off easily if left exposed. Was the scope used?

Pix of mine. Please excuse the crapy mobile photos.

No you don't need hash marks for a zero, or to shoot it well. go to the range zero the scope in the max point blank range for the animal you were intending to hunt, cause thats what that is... a hunting scope... put the cap back on and leave it alone.

The scope is NIB, I ordered it online from a dealer. So looks like one of the white hash on my scope "rubbed off" .....

Kisskaren,

Mine has very dim, if any markings at all. FWIW, you could just make your own index mark at the base of the turrets and use it as a reference point. Reality is all I did was bore sight it, shoot it, adjust the elevation and windage in the indicated direction, cover the turrets, and forget about it. I've been using it for over 5 years on my hunting rifle and it has always maintained zero.

It is a great scope! Very bright, very clear, and relatively lightweight. You won't regret purchasing it.

Fwiw mine are a couple of years old. They may have stopped marking them. I agree with the other posters, these type of scopes arent really meant for turret twisting. One of mine is on a 7rm zeroed at 300 yards, the other on a 308 zeroed at 200 yards. They are close enough at other ranges for the type of hunting I do.

Thanks guys!
For my 180gr Accubond 30-06 load, I usually zero @200yards. If I have time turning the turret, 300yds Up2.6MOA(10clicks), @350yds Up4MOA(16clicks), @400yds Up5.6MOA(22clicks).

My Zeiss Conquest scopes are Z600 reticles which have a bullet drop reticle out to 600 yards. They don't have hash marks. I have never missed them. I zero the rifles at 200 yards and use the reticle for adjustments out to 600 yards.

The mark on my conquest is light and could see how it could get rubbed off or overlooked at assembly. I personally wouldn't use that scope to be making elevation adjustments in the field, as I don't with mine either.

If you send it in you can get a target turret put on for $80 and have lots of marks on it.
I did it to mine about 2 months ago.
