Ive put together a short movie of a silencer ive made for my 338 edge.
First clip a friend is using it with the defensive edge brake (note his lack of bipod pressure lets the rifle hop)
(and pardon the slight douchy music  watching pictures without any music tends to get lame)

Im very pleased with the results although i havent tested the accuracy yet. The recoil is a tiny bit more noticeable, but the shooting experience is generally better. I burn 94gr of N570 powering the 300gr scenars at 880m/s, so the silencer has a tough life ahead. I think it'll hold up great.

Here's another clip from this summer (with muzzle brake) where i shoot it at 950 ish meter / 1040 yards. Watch it HD for bullet trace.

I can add the pictures later.

Very cool! If its not too much trouble, could you give me a call or post the process involved to legally produce a can for personal use. Ive wanted to do one for some time now.

Thanks a million.

Chad. You just submit a form 1 to build a suppressor. And pay the tax stamp. $200. It is similar to the form 4 for transferrable machine guns/suppressors. Fingerprints, photos, Leo signoff . Or trust info yo skip those.
You have to engrave your name and address and serial in it. Also don't use 0001 as the serial as that is how the atf looks up your paperwork if you have to call them for some reason. I got scolded for this my first time around. However you can choose whatever number you want.
They want caliber and legenth on the form. You can make them shorter but you can't ever make them longer than listed. Some go thru without a legenth listed but 3 of mine got kicked back and I had to list a legenth.
Also no extra parts allowed. If you are not an sot.

you have to fill out a form 1 and send it to the ATF pay $200. Then when it gets approved you get some papers back, one with the serial# you have to put on the suppressor, then go crazy making your suppressor. (I heard its shorter wait for these but not much less)

You heard wrong. the wait is no different at all unless you have transfer time from dealer to dealer on your can.

I sent you a pm chad

SilencerTalk.com has a great forum that contains about everything you'd ever want to know about licensing, design and building of silencers/moderators. A great resource IMHO.

Just curious...at 14 years old, how many supressors have you made and how were your dealings with the atf?

I presume the laws regarding suppressors are different in Norway.

You're quite right. No need to register anything here. Silencers are sold in stores just as any other apparel. Main reason for us using them is to save our ears while hunting.
Guns control is on the other hand much stricter than in the us.

Ditto on silencer talk. Most guys do basic 60 deg stepped cone baffels for center fire cans from what I have seen. I was advised to skip the Mouseholes in the baffles for accuracy. This from someone I trust who builds high end TI cans.
However you have the machinery to do some cool monocore stuff.
