I can't wait any longer for new optics...
Any advice between the Spuhr 4801 (assume that's the right part)

Or the DTA rings? Seems that most place don't sell both rings or some sell the optic and not the Spuhr
But I have used neither, and don't know how to compare...

Any thoughts appreciated
Part of my delay in optics is too many choices in the market

After using Spuhr mounts, it is really hard for me to go any other way. I think especially if you can use the AI or Sako dovetail versions. Removing a link in the chain is always good imho.

If the weight and height a one piece adds are no obstacle, Spuhr all the way.
For a no frills, less expensive quality one piece, Mile High has a good selection of AI mounts.
For rings, Seekins, I'll never buy anything else.

went ahead with the spuhr....
Now time to get scope

Thanks

I went with American Rifle Co as a less expensive alternative to Spuhr. The first product of theirs I got was the one piece mount, and I did so because of the built in level and the way the rings clamp together at the top instead of the side. The Spuhr does that too. The result is easier to keep scope level when mounting as the top clamp doesn't make it turn once you've gone through the painstaking process of "leveling" the reticle (is it ever really level...). They're also supposed to not leave ring marks that way, and I have yet to see any ring marks on scopes I've had in the American Rifle Co rings. I actually just got a Kahles 624i to put on a 300 WSM, and I was trying to talk myself into the Spuhr, but I was already over the budget on nearly every other part of the rifle, so I'm sticking with American Rifle Co for now.

You won't be disappointed with the mount or the scope...

I will be getting My new DTA Covert by this Friday and I went with the Kahles 624i with the DTA mounts. I do not know if You are aware of this but they now only use the same rings that go on the HTI series. I will let You know My opinion on there fit and finish. From talking to the guys at DTA they are supposedly every bit as well built as the spuhr mounts as I was also seriously considering going with the spuhr. Worse case if You are not happy with the HTI mount DTA is not going to hassle You and I am sure they will refund Your money if You are not happy with them. You are shelling out major $ they will not bust Your chops over something like that. They have been nothing but first class with Me.

Good to know that the HTI mounts are universal For DTA. My SRS A1 has a Vortex Razor HD 5-20X in Sphur 35mm 20 MOA mount and I love it. Have a second SRS A1 on order and plan to use the DTA mount for my March FX 5-40X 56mm FML-1. I'll let you know how the DTA mount works in comparison, but doubt there will be any issues. No level on the DTA mount like the Sphur, but already have an Accuracy 1st level on my March that I love. More precise by a few degrees than standard bubble levels, but don't think that makes much difference until 1000 yards or more. Not really sure at what range cant comes into play.
