Brock’s Gap Training Center is proud to announce an exciting shooting event in Birmingham, AL this Fall. The 2013 Steel City Precision Rifle Challenge will be held on Saturday, November 16th (one day format) and will consist of several scenario based precision rifle and pistol stages.

Rifle targets will range from 25-725 yards (most will be somewhere in between). The pistol will be involved in many of the stages. Pistol targets will mostly be CQB type distances. Approximate point distribution will be 80% rifle 20% pistol.Applications, detailed rules and additional information can be found on the BGTC website: Brock's Gap Training Center, Hoover, Alabama - 2013 Steel City Precision Rifle Challenge

While this is the first event of this type at Brock’s Gap, we have four experienced long range shooters with match director experience working together to assure we will have a safe and enjoyable match that is well organized and smoothly run. After safety considerations, our primary goal will be to produce a fun match that you’ll want to put on your shooting calendar for years to come!

We’ve had several sponsors express interest in supporting this event and we are planning to have an order of finish prize table following the match. As sponsorship details firm up, information will be communicated to registered shooters and also will be noted on the BGTC website.

We hope to see you this Fall at the 2013 Steel City Precision Rifle Challenge!

Thanks Tom! I'll be in touch, it will be great to have you down to shoot and/or help this Fall. Don't forget about the carbine match in October!

Hey, throttle that velocity down a bit, it'll make the barrel last longer:)

Im super happy to see a new match run by OUTSTANDING people!

Based on the MD and his crew I am positive this will be a great match. I am going to clear my schedule and try like hell to make this.

David- If you need help with anything please let me know.

Thanks for the kind words Ryan! Come down, relax and enjoy shooting sombody else's match! Hope to see you in November.

Hey folks, a quick update; registration for the match has been brisk and steady. We haven't quite reached critical mass but please don't wait too long to register if you think you might want to shoot. We appreciate all the interest and encouragement and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in November!

Good deal. The rules did not mention anything about magwells.

Magwells are fine. The rules are a bit wordy, but basically everything is OK for pistol with the exception of comps, porting or electronic sites.

STI/SVI mags are gtg with +1 or +2 base pads. The key thing is to bring a pistol you're comfortable shooting. Glocks, M&P's etc will be just as competitive as USPSA limited pistols. There will be plenty of fun pistol shooting with valuable points to be picked up but 80%ish of the available match points will be with the rifle.

I don't get to compete like I used to. One thing I always said...if I could only shoot one match a year, it would be one of David Tapp's and his awesome crew at Steel City. A place that lots of friendships were cultivated and still very strong to this very day.

I will be there representing Nightforce Optics and look forward to shooting a fantastic match, seeing old friends, and making new.

Is this the comp that is scheduled for this Saturday the 14th? or is it a series? I contacted someone and was told I needed to qualify to shoot on range H (I think that is the 725yr range) . I will be there to observe if nothing else! I just moved about 3 minutes away so I'm looking to join BGTC as well. Looking forward to meeting some good local guys to shoot with!

Thanks for the kind words Tod! It will be great to see you in November!

A quick update on the match as I've received numerous messages regarding availability. As it stands right now, we've got room to accommodate about 15-20 more people. We're trying to pack as much shooting as we can into the day and we aren't going to over-register and risk things getting bogged down. Stages are shaping up nicely and I assure you it's going to be fun!

Jim has done a great job of keeping us up to date as to the sponsors. We've had many generous sponsors who've agreed to support the event. There will be several firearms, optics, suppressors, knives, and other nice stuff on the prize table to give away at the end of the day. Of particular note, Accurate Ordnance has agreed to build and donate a custom bolt action rifle to the prize table. The specs of the rifle are out of this world and the craftsmanship of Accurate Ordnance is second to none! More importantly (to me anyway.....) Dave and Mark will be at the match helping out, spotting hits etc. It doesn't get any better than that when it comes to sponsorship and match support! Thank you Accurate Ordnance!

Some folks who've already registered have requested to squad with people who haven't sent in their apps. If you plan to shoot, please don't wait to long to register!

Thanks and we look forward to seeing everyone in November!

Thank YOU, David and Jim. We're all looking forward to this match.

U guys are doing something right cause that's a hell of a rifle for a 100$ match. Good job. U plan to raffle it so some of us hacks get a chance at it or is it the number one prize ?
