New Barrel for AR10?

Hiders,

I have an Armalite AR10 that currently has a Rock Creek 243 barrel on it that is reaching the end of its life. Want to put something on it that will last considerably longer so I am leaning towards 308 or 6.5 Creedmoor as I am set up for both already.

Those of you with 6.5 Creedmoor AR's, what barrel are you using and what kind of barrel life can I expect?

Those with a Noveske 21" 308 barrel, what kind of accuracy are you getting?

Thanks!

The .308 will give you better barrel life over the 6.5CM, in general.

Lower cost of operation through the lifetime of the barrel also goes to the .308, especially with gasguns.

In terms of bbl life...I have found that the 6.5CM varies pretty wildly in terms of overall life depending on how crazy the shooter gets with trying to push the outside edge of the envelope with MV, especially with the heavies in a gasser, as well as how high a rate of fire you plan on shooting with it. Generally speaking, a gasser will be harder on barrel life than a comparable bolt gun just by virtue of the nature of the beast and how they tend to get run. With all things being equal, the .308 will give somewhat better barrel life than the 6.5CM. In terms of quality tubes for the 6.5CM....you are looking at having to get a barrel made as there aren't any factory production barrels for the Armalite pattern right now that I'm aware of although I HEAR that Rainier may be offering one in their UltraMatch lineup soon (no specific ETA).

In terms of barrels, the Noveske N6 barrels are some of the best available production barrels for the Armalite platform rifles. I have owned and shot both factory production rifles/uppers, as well as customs built up using the Noveske 21" tubes and they were all easily capable of sub-MOA accuracy when I did my part and when I fed them quality ammo (primarily my reloads, but they were damned near as capable with FGMM and BH match ammo too). That said...good luck sourcing a Noveske .308 barrel right now unless you find one in private party hands that you can buy for the right price because currently...Noveske has d/c'd production of all things .308 to focus on 5.56 and .300 Blackout exclusively, especially with respect to barrels. Now, Pac-nor may be able to assist you with getting more or less the same tube that the Noveske would be, but it will NOT be a Noveske...just the same barrel blank worked over.

I have a 21 inch Noveske on my AR10, once it is burned up, it will be replaced with another, this damn thing is crazy accurate to 900 yds.

I have been fairly impressed with the Rainier Arms Select .308 barrel I am working with right now. I have not completed a definitive accuracy test with it yet. That will be coming soon. Also Rainier offers a satisfaction guarantee. If you don't like it, return it.

Have a Noveske on my AR10. It is a sub MOA rifle, but it looks like the Rainier barrel may shoot a bit tighter.

One excellent choice you might consider is a drop-in .260 Remington Lilja AR10 barrel: Lilja Precision Rifle Barrels

I love the .260 Remington/AR-10 combination. Shooting sils is boring inside of 700yds, and not really hard at 1000yds. It starts to get fun at 1200yds and further, at least up at altitude for me.

I have a Armalite AR10 w/ a Krieger 1:10 ss 26" - sub moa if I don't have a dumbass attack -
