I am looking to upgrade from a 10-22 magnum 17 hmr and I am looking at the volquartsen superlite 17hmr as my new platform. Looking to see reliability function.
My brother in law has a Superlite in 17 HMR and it's a tack driver. We've been out shooting targets and hunting and I've never heard or seen anything negative about it. No possum or raccoons stand a chance.
In 22WMR, I've had the Classic and the Superlite. In all honesty, I didn't really like the Superlite. It was well made, and a handy gun, but something about an aluminum receiver, when a steel could be had, turned me off. I don't think it'd beat itself to death, but I just felt more comfortable with the steel.
Thank you for all the great responses. I like the weight of the heavier rifle as well, for the simple fact of watching bullet impact. Makes it awesome. Maybe I will save some pennies and buy it in Feburary and just go with the classic.
Not a 17 but my 22lr Superlite is probably the only rifle I own that I would never sell. VQ quality is very good. Ended up getting a VQ Scorpion as well.
