SPS Varmint length/contour/brake.....newbie question....

I apologize if this is something I should've been able to find by searching. I'm traveling and attempted a search on my phone and couldn't come up with anything.

I just ordered a 700 SPS Varmint in .243 and I want to cut the 26" barrel down to 22" and have it threaded for a brake. I don't have it in my hands right now or I would get some measurements. If I am understanding correctly, it has a tapered contour that ends in a 0.820 at the muzzle. Can anyone tell me what the diameter is at 22"? Or is it even significantly different than the muzzle? I'm wanting to get a brake ordered asap and I want to make sure it's as close to matching as possible.

Any recommendations for a brake that would match at 22"?

I'm pretty sure (not 100%) it is still 0.82 at 22". I believe the taper straighten towards the end. Someone else may confirm or contradict.

Thanks KG. I have to decide on a brake now that will fit as flush as possible. Hopefully I can find something close.

It doesn't straighten out towards the end, at 22" you're going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of .850" at 22" with a varmint contour barrel.

I was close, Krieger, Rock Creek, and Bartlein list varmint contour at .830 at the muzzle at 26".
