Shooters,

Can any of you recommend a tripod that gets low enough for prone? Will be using it with an angled Leupold Kenai recently purchased from Liberty Optics.

Many thanks and appreciation for your expertise,

Take a look at the Velbon Maxi Mini D , Works well in the field and it's legs can be splayed next to your rifle without getting in the way and its very light and compact .

i have the SLIK sprint mini II. it will not do standing so could look at the slik pro II as well. Just a cheaper option than a lot of stuff I have seen. it will depend how heavy the scope is as well.

You can get it so low on the Giraud that you have to look down on it when you're prone.,

It can go lower but this is usually fine. Monfrotto 190 3 section carbon fiber tripod with 322rc ball head.

The PRS small or medium will both go lower than you need. Hide member Danel aka Platypus can help you. His site is precsionriflesolutions.com

Polecat works well but is heavy , I couldn't cope with a Giraud Stand as on uneven ground it wasn't very stable so i made an attachment for the Polecat to be used on a Manfrotto . This works well from a sitting or standing position but is is the way when prone .

Yes it is the 190CXPROB which allows you to pull the center post through and set it horizontally any where and any length. Then the legs can splay flat to the ground. I have used it in conjunction with a hog saddle and can get it supported low enough to where the pistol grip of my AX in sitting on the ground. It works VERY well.

Also I started with the aluminum version of this tripod and honestly due to weight, noise, and the slight cost difference I went carbon and have not looked back.
