I know I've seen threads like this before but can't find em. What's the Best quality/most functional gun case that folds out to a shooting mat? I am not looking for many features as a case other than wrapping the firearm up and easily carrying it. I am more concerned with it functioning well as a shooting mat. I intend to use it primarily for competitions so I can use it as my primary shooting mat and then pack the rifle up in it to carry between stages. I dont really need any extra pockets or storage since I already have a pack to haul all my stuff in. My pack is an eberlestock but I just don't like having to get it in and out of the carrier as it is cumbersome to do it over and over again. The Shooting mats I am using now are the Midway, and Triad with my first choice being the Midway only because of length and the nylon straps to engage the bipod legs, although not necessary they are helpful.
Thanks for your help
Brett

Here is about as good as it gets, but I am a little biased. I love to shoot, and hate laying prone in the winter and spring, because everything gets soaked, so I have designed a mat, for real world conditions, that keep you dry and protect the rifle in transport. I will not go to the range without it.

Let me step out from behind the sales counter for a minute....As far as carrying one of these at a shooting match, I think you will find that will get really old, really fast. This model is perfect for a day at the range or out in the field shooting and collecting data, that will require you to be in one place, prone, for an extended amount of time. I have not shot a match that is conducive to this type of shooting. Most require you to get your ass on the ground, and time starts, and then you have to get the hell out of the way when your done, so the other 40 people can shoot the stage.

F-Class and FTR is a different story, where again, you can not get better than this.

Here are a couple recent pics that mailed out this week.

The pics on my website are a little out dated, the buckles match color now, and a few other tweaks. There are back pack straps on the rear, as well as a drag loop / hanging loop, that is not pictured. Sorry about the website, as there are products that have been discontinued that I have not updated yet, so navigation is a bit of a bitch right now.

Gonna need another one soon Nick... OD green or multi cam. I will be callin ya soon bud. Jag

You can still order Stryker mats from tac force. Best quality mats/bags made IMHO. Get them before they're gone. On their website.

Hasgun Willtravel,
How long rifle can it take?? im looking for a drag bag/shooting mat that can take a rifle around 50"..

I have the same Galati as Ring and it's such a great bag/mat.
Holds the rifle (700P, 26" barrel) in really sturdy and the extra features are well thought out and well placed.
It's well worth the price.

I love my new galati case. Very Cush and extremely well organized w modular pockets right where there needed. Plus I can move in 2 minutes just by folding it up and moving. Very nice

The Galati int. gun case/mat combo kicks ass. Super heavy duty, great padding, lots of molle attachments, keeps weapon secure and safe. Cant go wrong.

I really like my Eagle HSRC. They may be a little difficult to find now.

Do any of these have loops or some method of putting your bipod on to when shooting from concrete? I find I shoot better with a fair amount of preload that I just can't get with the bipod directly on concrete.

I've been using an Eagle HRSC for a few years with no complaints. A buddy bought the Galati recently and really likes it. Interestingly it looks a TON, and indo mean a TON like the HRSC. Any of these types of cases get heavy but offer good protection.

The one thing they don't have is a lot of extra pockets to keep stuff separate. If that's not a big deal then either will be ok.

I also have a BlackHawk drag bag / shooting mat combo. It offers decent protection and is lighter. No backpack style shoulder straps, but if its just going from the vehicle to the range it's not necessary.

Lately I'm thinking of trying something in between. Both have their role but the Eagle is really more than I need and the BH is a bit less than I would really like sometimes.
