im about to build 6mm creedmoor with defiance im already have A5 stock on remington sendero varmint contour.is remington varmint to thin for 6mm target? or should i go litle thicker and re open barrel channel...which contour will you recomend for target rifle..its not going to be carry around nor hunting with it..
ty sh!

Nothing wrong with it at all, probably shoot just as well as a heavier barrel. Heavier barrels are easier to shoot well with though as they are more stable, also eat up more of the recoil.

As far as twist goes I run a 1-8 and shoot everything up to the 108gr Berger BT's very well in my 6SLR, if you wanna shoot 115's i'd go 1-7.8" or 1-7.5" to get better stabilization.

Hope this helps

im thinking getting bartlein but hard to find 7.5 in stock with contour that i want..ill prolly go with MTU 1:8twist 26" finish

I use Remington varmint contour barrels as a minimum for anything I'm going to be walking in with. If Its a rifle where it wont be packed around a lot I will go with a heavier contour. I must have small nuts because I put muzzle brakes on everything I hunt with, I dont like recoil.

I have a Brux "heavy varmint" in 1:7.5" twist on my .243:

The barrel came from Greg at SPR (bugholes.com); I did the machine work. Accuracy is fine, and the recoil is minimal (as one would expect from a rig that weighs in at nearly 18lbs... and that's with an empty magazine).
