Welcome to the Big Piney Steel Tactical MONEY MATCH, to be held on Saturday, September 28th, 2013 at 9AM.

Test your skills against other long range shooters in a variety of stages.

$1,150 IN PRIZE MONEY!

Entry fee is $50.

MAIN MATCH FIRST PRIZE: $400
….$200 FOR SECOND, $100 FOR THIRD, $50 FOR FOURTH

SIDE MATCH PRIZES: $100 PER MATCH (4 matches)

STAGES:

The MAIN MATCH will combine the shooter’s individual scores from four stages of the Steel Tactical Match:

Designated Marksman 1 – Engage three targets from as many steps of the barricade as you
can within 60 seconds. Score 30, 20, or 10 points per target (small, medium, large).
You must engage each of the three targets from each step selected. Steps may
be selected in any order.

Designated Marksman 2 – Five target plates, five shots, 300-575 yards, within 100 seconds.

Unknown Distance – One target, one shot, distance to be milled by the shooter.

Know Your Limits (Steel) – Four targets of decreasing size at the same distance, up to four
shots, any miss voids the score for the entire stage, so stop when you have
reached the limits of your accuracy.

Tie-breaker, if required, is one shot per finalist at a point 540 yards away
…closest one wins. Ties in any of the top 4 places will be broken this way, with the loser moving down to the next place finish.

This will be an exciting match…it will require both accurate shooting and good decision-making. Cash prizes for the MAIN MATCH are: 1st Place -- $400, 2nd Place -- $200, 3rd Place --$100, and 4th Place --$50.

SIDE MATCHES ($100 prize for each, winner takes all):

Designated Marksman 3 – Engage five targets from 400-675 yards in minimum time, unlimited
round count.

The Money Shot – Each shooter has one shot to hit an 8” plate 660 yards away. Successful
finalists will take one shot at a point on a large steel plate 660 yards away.
Closest one wins.

Run the Field – Shooters will take one shot only at each of 15 targets on the field, in any order.
Lowest time wins. Misses add 25 seconds to your score. Distances to each target
will be posted on a diagram of the field before the stage begins.

Steel Man – Shooter will have his rifle zeroed and ready behind the barrel in front of the
bench rest area. He will sprint from the range entrance gate to his rifle (~100
yards) and engage the four striped targets on the field with one shot each. He will
move to the rooftop prop and repeat the engagement. He will move to the cutout
barricade and repeat the engagement. Lowest time wins. Any miss adds 20 seconds
to his overall time. (Target configuration is from Designated Marksman 4)

HINT: You might want to have really good DOPE for 320, 360, 370, 390, 410, 440, 480, 490, 510, 515, 530, 540, 555, 560, 635, 660, and 675 yards. A diagram with ranges to all targets (except the Unknown Distance one) will be handed out to all shooters at registration.

One month to go! Clear your schedule, and don't forget, you can tune up for this one by attending our regular monthly match on Sunday, September 15th.....Registration starts at 8:30AM for each of these matches.

See you there,

Buzz

I went out yesterday with RiffRaff and set targets up and verified sight lines and distances. Of course since we had them up, we had to shoot a few. This is going to be a blast.

Do not forget, we are shooting almost the same course of fire on the 15th (not for a prize pot), if you want to 'practice' before the money shoot on the 28th. I think the lessons learned would be valuable in prepping for the money shoot on the 28th.

In addition to the prize money, we have a small number of donations available that will be given out in drawings on the 28th. Come on out and enjoy.

Match update:

We conducted a Steel Tactical Match on September 15th.....it was a great time, lots of fun, great shooting.

Based on the feedback of our participants, we have made a few adjustments to the Steel Money Match.....

By popular demand, we will keep the three Paper Stages as part of the main match. Everyone liked the targets we use (Dots, KYL, and Hostage Heads) and thought that they added a lot to the match. The combined total of seven stages will determine the main match winners....more shooting, more fun. The paper stages require 12 rounds of ammo.....so bring ~34 rounds for the main match. The paper stages will be shot simultaneously with the other four main match stages.

We will conduct three side matches, including the Designated Marksman 3, Designated Marksman 4, and the 'Money Shot'. Bring 20 rounds of ammo for the side matches.....54 rounds total plus whatever extra you want.

These changes should help the match flow smoothly, and still allow us to finish by 3pm.

We also have a few sponsor prizes to hand out, including a free 2-day Defensive Pistol course at Front Sight Firearms Training Institute in Las Vegas (airline travel and lodging not included).

Don't miss this great opportunity to test your skills in a fun and friendly setting.
