Rifle Scopes Base/rings help!

I already decided on a Vortex PST 6-24x50 FFP scope. The rifle is a Rem 700 with a 26" 1:12 twist.

Anyways I need a base and rings and I do not know enough about precision shooting at this point to know what the best options would be.

I guess my question is, what base/rings combo would be best for this 700 with the viper PST scope?

Please be patient as I am new to this type of shooting.

I understand! Am new and was just in your position. I would recommend you check the sticky for measuring ring heights - there is a formula there and quite a bit of advice. The one thing you did not mention was the base you plan on using as that will be needed to determine the ring height. Good luck!

I read the sticky and I do not have a base yet. I am asking about a solid base/ring combo. I need both.

One piece base/ring set up - I have buddy with DNZ products he is happy with on a non magnum 700.

Base 0 MOA or 20 MOA - Low end pricing get you in the game - EGW aluminum, Brownells house brand or Larue = all these are under $75.00

Rings- TPS, Talley, Brownells about $80-100

Many on here will say the above products suck. I have had no issues with them on non magnum rifles.

Best - Nightforce rings and bases, Badger is good stuff. You are looking at about $300 for rings and a base.

Leupold also makes a fair set of tac rings - I have never used them, but one guy I know has a set without a problem.

Brownells also has the scope/ring height chart

You may also get lucky, I have seen used/mounted Nightforce rings go for about $100 in the for sale section here. They are well built so I wouldn't shy away from used but clean Nightforce or Badger stuff. The aluminum stuff is cheaper - because it costs less to machine it alos weighs less on a hunting rifle and works ok. But if you remove them a lot, or shoot magnum rounds keep that in mind.

Seekins Precision 20 MOA base and .87" rings.

Thanks for the answers so far guys. I want to end up building something that resembles an m40a3.

What would be a base and rings that resembles the ones used on the m40a3?

Base/rings help!

Well, if your looking to replicate the M40A3, Badger makes the rings and basses they use as Cordova mentioned, 6 screw front and 4 screw rear. https://www.snipercountrypx.com/pc-3751-1645-badger-ordnance-usmc-m40a3-standard-rings-34mm.aspx

Since you chose the Vortex, your clearly not going for an exact M40A3 replica, so it doesn't really mater. Seekins also does a 6/4 screw set.

Thanks, yes it's not going to be exact at first, this is a project that will take place over time as I am able to fund it. I am going with the vortex for now until I can afford the correct one down the road. It will honesty probably be the last piece of the rifle that comes together, in the meantime the PST will have to do. I thought I'd go with the exact rings to get it one step closer.

Do you have a link to the correct base?
