Just Purchased a Savage model 12 LRP Shot only about 40 rounds through it, happy with it so far. Need to get a bipod have an old cadwell on it now and want to get something alot better . Own a couple of Harris units. Looking at maybe an Atlas any suggestiions?

There's nothing wrong with a Harris, I have several of them but the Atlas is a very good bipod, definitely a step above a Harris in my opinion. As soon as I can I'm getting a couple rail sections to convert my other stocks to use the Atlas bipod.
someone mentioned to me gg&g no clue how it holds up, but they love it

i have 5-6 of each and they each have their bright spots, neither will be broken any time soon if ever.
harris with spring loaded notched legs for when every second counts. add the KMW podloc to the swivel version for the quickest/easiest fine adjustment of the swivel feature.
atlas for added flexibility in terms of adjustability, panning & loading
either way you can use a mounting rail for both. the atlas can be used with a variety of quick detach mounts(larue, adm, surefire) and the harris/larue combo is an option for the harris. i prefer the pic rail qd so they can be easilty removed and switched to various rifles.
If I could only choose 1 for a battle rifle, it would be harris.

The atlas is nice, but the harris s is just so dern quick to deploy and stow especially if you run the bipod pulls.i guess im just a lil old fashioned my vote is harris. pod lock is a must though.
I'm going to put a plug in for versapod. I recently bought an Atlas to use one first hand and make my own deductions. I have only had it a week, but I think it will be great for hunting rifles because it is so light. Guys are right about you have to deploy each leg one by one (could have sworn I've seen a vid showing how to do it with one hand, but I can't find it), and I don't like how the legs spin when loading it. I have to back off a bit with it. Still haven't used it enough to fully make up my mind on it.

They will pan, and tilt and have enough play in them to be preloaded just like an Atlas. The more I read the reviews of pros and cons of Atlas vs Harris over the last year or 2, I can't help but think people should try out a versapod because I think they are a nice blend of both...just my 2 cents.

I like the Atlas bipods for all my rifles. I have a couple harris bipods for backup but just find myself liking the features of the Altas much more
Atlas for me as well. Harris is nice. Too loud for quick deployment, not the atlas.
