Is 25 yards too close to laser bore sight at AR? I am having issues getting the crosshairs on the laser at 25 yards. I am running an AR10 with a 34mm cantilever 20moa Spuhr mount with a Leupold Mark6 3-18x. Im starting to think that even though Laserlyte recommends to zero at 25/30 yards that this is still wayyyyyy too close and it should be at least 50.

Have you tried taking a shot from 25 yds? If you get the shot on paper just move the reticle to match where the impact was. That will should put you on paper at 100. Then you wont need to laser It

Pull the upper off, BCG out and look down the tube. That's the best way to bore sight anything. AR's put the sight line a lot higher over the bore so a longer bore sighting distance is better or doing it 1.5-2" higher than the bore line at 25-50. I've personally never used a laser bore sighted that is more accurate than I can get it by eye. I'm always on paper at 100 yards, typically only a few inches off.

I did that last time I bore sighted my Vortex 1-6x to my REPR, kinda a PITA but oh well. I already have the laser bore sighter so I might as well use it. When I go to the range on Sunday I will try both methods but you are right I bet separating the upper from lower will be my best bet. Thanks for the replies guys.

2 inches low @ 25 yards is how I do it. Puts you just above bullseye @ 100 and dead on @ 200-225 yards depending on the load.
