I just bought new Air Arms TX200. I mounted a Hawke Sidewinder 4.5-14x42 scope in Beeman high rings and tried to zero at 25 yards. I topped out my elevation and I am still about 2 inches low at 25 yards. What can I do to fix my problem?

Shims between the scope tube and the ring should get you where you need to be. I have cut and used an aluminum soda can in a pinch.

When you dial for elevation, the scope moves the reticle in a downward direction. In turn you must raise the reticle/muzzle to meet the new zero. In situations where you are "topped out", your scope is physically too high in relation to the muzzle. You can resolve this issue 1) canted base, 2) lower rings, 3) scope with more elevation/travel. Shims will work, but you must use caution as it is a quick way to dent your scope tube. If you are using a single piece base, you can shim the rear of the base and bed with epoxy, this way the entire optic system is canting as a unit (no stress on any metal). There are vids on youtube that explain how to bed a scope base. Another option is to replace your rings with a set of burris, with 20 moa inserts. +1 on the Burris Signature rings with the delrin(?) inserts. You can cant the scope in any direction up to 20 MOA using the inserts. The inserts take up half of the scope ring and come in 0MOA, -5MOA, +5MOA, -10MOA & +10MOA. You can also use them to correct a windage error in the mounting system. I wish Burris would make them in 34mm too. As well as an easy and cheap way to correct for a mounting problem, the inserts hold the scope solidly yet leave no ring marks.

Thanks for the replies. The rifle had a 11mm dovetail base machined into the receiver. After looking around a few of the airgun forums I have decided all I need to do is get another base.
