All,
Looking to purchase some night vision goggles-head or helmet mounted, around $500 to $1000, anyone recommend any in this price range? Not looking for rifle scope (already have a PVS-4) or binoculars, just head-mounted googles. Dont have to be military, plan to use hiking on my property at night and some light night driving with the HMMWV. Any recommendations for gen 1 or 2 inexpensive quality NVG?? (I know, those words dont go together, but there seems to be an explosion of commercial manufacturers and there has to be some decent options for non-mil grade NVG)!!
TIA,
Austin

Your asking for good Hike-walk NV monocular in your Post for reasonable price .
For really good foot travel & a good bang for the buck-$$ . I really thought those Israeli Gen.2 D300, were Good Deal . about 5 or 6 years ago they were going for around 900-$ or less new .
Was NO Gen.3 Tube . BUT The image was GTG for 50 yard & ( ' Not ' that shitty fisheye grainy image ) .& has an inboard Ilum. also . So it is really good for a dedicated head mount Monoc. for foot travel .
.

The armasight spark seems viable. Less than $500 doesn't seem too bad. I'm pretty set on a weapons scope otherwise I would have picked one up already. With a strong IR light should work quite well.

i know a set of gen 3 pvs7b that just sold for $1200. if you are a little patient and save up a little more cash you can get into gen 3. there is absolutely no comparison between that and gen 2 no matter whose it is. do yourself a favor and buy once/cry once.

+1 Those were the days Brother. We sold a bunch of these units, built like a tank and then the price started sky rocketing.

I can tell all, we ARE working on yet another lower cost monocular solution with lower cost toward the end of the year.
