Alaska
Hey guys, Just thought I'd share some photos from this years Alaska Goat/deer/caribou hunt. Me and my buddy came out with a Billy, 2 Sitka black tails and a little caribou for filling the freezer. Quite the adventure, the pictures show mostly the few hours of nice weather we had and not the 10 days of wind and ridiculous rain we had. Good trip, no one got hurt and we came out heavy. Enjoy!

Very cool pics, congrats on filling tags and having an adventure you'll always remember.
I hunted Blacktails in Larsons Bay a few years ago, Kodiak is beautiful!

Definitely one of the more extreme hunts I've been on. I've been to Kodiak twice now and both times while enjoyable was a test of the extremes.

Nice Goat. I lived on that island for 13 years. Need to go back and try for a goat and maybe a bear. It's a very beautiful place when the weather is nice. Not so much when it's raining sideways.

Looks like quite the hunt and some heavy packs...neat pics. I'd love to get a Billy some time, make a beautiful mount.

We definitely had sideways rain.......lots of it.....

i have to say, sitka black tail deer is probably my new favorite game meat...couldn't believe how well it cooked up. My wife and kids told me to go back to kodiak after the first roast we made and shoot three more.

Congrats - that's some really fantastic scenery!! Really like the mtn goat - we have a decent herd here in Oregon but drawing a tag is near impossible.
Anyway, congrats & thanks for the great post!

Good catch.....There actually are some caribou on Kodiak... However, those pictures are from a two day quick turn mission in the Denali highway to see if we could fill my caribou tag with just a few days left in out trip.... We decided to take the first legal bull we could find... It was seriously slim pickings... We saw more hunters than caribou and the cows had larger antlers than my bull! It wasn't easy but after some serious spotting scope work we found a little bull that seven other hunters thought was a cow. They all left while we kept looking for a penis sheath.... A little bit of time and the right angle, some good glass=legal bull.... Done.

the bulls antlers were so small an Alaska state trooper snuck in behind our truck and watched us from a mile away while we packed up our bou. Funny thing is during the trip up we were wonderng if we would get stopped by this one trooper that's pulled us over four other times on different hunting trips when we lived up there. This same trooper was filmed in the show "Alaska State Troopers" and wouldn't you know it we knew his name before he ever got out of the truck! I don't think he's ever had a bunch of guys so excited to get game checked by a trooper! He thought for a moment we were some crazy show fans that were always hounding him in town. We all laughed a bit at the fact that the troopers must be tracking our activity in Alaska to get pulled over for the fifth time by the same trooper. Took a picture and called it a good end to the trip :)

How did u like the kuiu gear? I used mine in Yukon in sept for moose/grizzly bear hunt and it worked awesome. Do you have their pack? If so what do you think?
Congrats on an awesome hunt and good trophies.

I'm sold on kuiu... Wore their original chugach rain gear and used their icon 7200... I was not gentle on the gear at all and they performed extremely well. Top of the line rain gear was a welcomed piece of kit for this trip as well as a good pack. We spent a lot of time in our train gear to say the least.

The icon 7200 performed very well. I did use the meat cell on the pack and it worked well hauling meat. The pack out on our goat hunt was easily 120+lbs each.....the pack held up great, better than our bodies did.
