Way out West Thank Goodness
One day off the Mezza Luna, at the Mcmillian Shoot this weekend in Arizona, Mod Armory Camille is offered to try her hand at 1000 plus yard shooting. She has been expanding her repertoire as as of late and jumped at the chance. So she got to try one of the Alias Star rifles wearing a Leupold MK-6 3 to 18s with a L-3 CNVD-LR (which I think was mine, and it's a great combo by the way) and she makes A whopping 1130 yard first round hit on an 18 inch target.

I am going to quit calling her Cat Woman and change her nick name to something like... Annie Oakley!

So now I know what we are getting her for Christmas MUH HA HA HA HA HA HA! ! !

I don't think Annie oakley could pull that off to be completely honest with you! Anything past 500 at night takes some talent, props to her for showing us up. Maybe this is a good time to post that pic of my wife with her .510 WSM?

that is what young eyes can do for you. That is a great shot during the day let alone at night. !!!!!!!!!!

Congrats!!

Yes YES IT IS ! ! ! The first time I ever shot at 1000 yards it was through a 10X Unertal and the B-mod target I was staring incredulously at looked TINY ! ! ! Plus the wind was enough to to have to use a mil dot on the horizontal as I had run out of left windage. Still made 4 out of 5 hits! I was jazzed for DAYS after that!

Thank you - it was pretty unreal!
However, the McMillan crew has top notch trainers and do not forget about the rifle! The trainer, Chad Stroud, helped me with the dope. From what I observed they really took the time to explain and offer assistance. The best part of the event was when one of the individuals had a third round hit, IPSC target at 2008 yards. His platform was the 338 w/ L3 CNVD-LR.

Pete how did you know I want a Mcmillan rifle for Christmas!! :)

That is pretty incredible for both you and the other shooter! How are misses viewed and corrections made at these distances and is extra IR light used to illuminate the targets? Never had a chance to shoot anywhere near these ranges at night and would be interested in hearing more about it.

I was driving a Tomcar when the 2008 yard shot took place. I asked Chase and this was his response.
"First shot was low, favored .4 mils higher. Second shot was just over it, came down .2 and third shot impacted. Wind calls were perfect to start."

We did have IR illuminators out but the night had no cloud cover and almost a half moon. We had other clip on night vision devices out but the LR was the only one that allowed us to reach that far. I wish I could say there was more too it but basically was told "aim at this". I guess I can pull a trigger back and breathe.

I know the McMillan crew can provide a much better analysis, tips / tactics for the long shot. If you can afford the training I'd recommend it. I was impressed with the staff in my interaction with them during the night demonstration / shoot.
