It took about 10 years, but I finally got my points and got a nice item in the mail a few days ago. Yea... I am happy! Now to work on the Rifle points.

Awesome, and you did it the right way; Pistol first, then Rifle. The Rifle Badge should be an easy one for you.

Double D's a small club, and a worthy goal!

Fantastic Achievment. Congratulations on all the tens of thousands of rounds and countless hours of effort paying off. They don't give those away.

Congrats to you Super Bee.

Can we get more, or anything, to the story behind it? Your thoughts on proper shooting form, ballistics, pistols?

bullseye is for the gheys

I like Gen. Hatcher's remarks on this attitude.

From "TEXTBOOK OF PISTOLS AND REVOLVERS" by (then) Major Julian Hatcher.

Many practical users of pistols and revolvers are fond of making fun of target shooting, and of the advice given on how to learn this branch of the sport. Such an attitude is well understood by the psychologist. It is founded on the unconscious jealousy and feeling of inferiority that the poor hot feels when he sees a well trained marksman making scores out of his power to equal. Unconsciously he will try to belittle that accomplishment that he does not possess, so that he will seem to his audience to be just as important and well equipped as the good marksman whom he ridicules.

Yeah, but the wise General's remarks may not really apply in this case, since the guy you are directing them towards is a Distinguished Pistol Shot himself. Earned in under a year, if I'm not mistaken.

Also, although I don't know him, I would guess that he was joking....

Oh I have no doubt that he was joking, but it gave me a opening to quote Hatcher for the benefit of those who condemn bullseye and high power shooting and there are many on this forum.

Yes I was joking. Bullseye shooting is true marksmanship at its core, one must master the mind and trigger to succeed in it. Superbee, congrats that is an amazing accomplishment no matter how long it took.

And kraig, I love that quote

Distinguished Pistol Badge

Nicely done. Good shooting!

Hatcher was a bad ass. Today he would never make it to Maj. Gen. and might have to T. J. Lawrence it with the rest of us.

Congrats Super Bee! Just curious, what is the course of fire (distances, times/timed, points, etc...) to aquire Distinguished Pistol?

Did a bunch of searching but found the COF. Just thought I'd save one of you fella's a bunch of writing. COF is tough and it appears it's earned over multiple matches which rewards consistancy. Again congrats.
