I have finally decided to get into long range shooting via a FNAR 20" hvy barrel. I have a Bushnell Tactical Elite 6-24x50 on the way for itand I am looking for scope mount/ring recommendations. I would like a railed mount for a Burris Fast Fire for closer shots if I were to ever use it for hunting.

Per some manufacturer specifictions extra high mounts/rings recommended if the objective lens is over 44mm, but I have seen folks state they used medium rings with this scope. As i said i would like a railed mount/ring to put the Fast Fire on but not an actual requirement. The railed Millet rings (TACTICAL RINGS W/ ACCESSORY RAIL | Brownells) seem ideal but they only goto`high`.

Right now with the 70 MOA elevation I have on the scope, I am going to avoid +MOA mounts/risers. If i end up needing it i can get a riser later on (right?).

Any recommendations would be appreciated.

AADMOUNT made by a board member here, Jon A. Jon is an engineer who works for Boeing, and his ring/base combination looks bulletproof. He also makes rings that are not part of a whole mount, but rather two individual rings.

Funny, i was on his website a couple of hours ago. I will see if he shows up here, if not I will contact him directly.

But please, anyone who has owned a Bushnell Tactical Elite 6-24x50, please chime in.

On the FNAR your ring height will probably be driven in part by adding height to get a good cheekweld (not how it works in the bolt-action world) than on needing to clear the rail. I find that a TPS 30mm medium, 1.075" from rail to centerline of scope works well for me, along with a 3-15x50mm Weaver (bell outer diameter is 59.5mm, your Bushnell will likely be within 0.5mm of the same bell diameter). That ring/scope setup has the scope clearing the rail by about 0.1 inch at the closest point. With your somewhat longer 6-24x50 Bushnell, I think anything between 1.00 and 1.20" rail to centerline height would be likely to work reasonably well. This rules out almost any "low" rings and also almost any AR15 type mounts (which are too high). Depending on the brand's sizing you are probably looking at a medium or high sized ring. I would specifcally consider any of the following:

ARC M10 medium height (1.1")
Griffin medium height (1.05")
PRI medium/intermediate height (1.05 or 1.066" depending which # they publish is actually right)
TPS medium height (1.075") (what I am currently using)
Warne 30mm high (1.116")

I consider all of those quality rings, and they are listed in my personal order of preference - which also roughly follows cost from high to low.

When you mount your scope, look closely at where the rail crosses from the receiver to over the barrel. On mine, the rail is very slightly bent there - not enough to see easily, but with a straightedge you can see it. If yours is like that, I suggest keeping both rings on the receiver where the rail is flat. An alternative is to remove and bed the rail; bad alternative is to mount the scope across a non-flat rail and let the tube take some torque.

edit: looked at my FNAR and noticed the scope came closer to the rail than I remembered.

Thanks for the info SOG! Saw your edit, so medium rings willstill work, just closer then you remember?

Exactly - with my scope and mounting location I think anything above 0.95" would work, and am sure 1.00" or higher would work. The Bushnell is (I think) a bit longer and that means you will probably have a bit more clearance than my setup has. Pick one of the rings listed, or any other quality ring ideally in the 1.05" to 1.10" range, and you should be fine.
